Job Title: Staff Nurse Specialty Care Profession: Nursing Specialty: Intensive Care Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Six months to three years of Nursing (RN) experience required; experience with intensive cardiac patients preferred License: Current Registered Nurse License Certifications: BLS Certification required; ACLS preferred Must-Have: - Collaboration - Communication (verbal & written) - Judgement/Critical Thinking - Organizational Understanding - Planning (Organizing, Time Management) - Problem Solving - Quality - Reliability - Safety and Risk Management Description: The Registered Nurse (RN) protects, promotes, and optimizes health and abilities. They prevent illness and injury and alleviate suffering through the diagnosis and treatment of human responses. The RN is responsible and accountable for compliance with all standards of practice and professional development. This is in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act, policies, and codes of ethics. The RN promotes a caring and healing environment for patient-centered care. The RN assesses, plans, delegates, coordinates, implements, and evaluates nursing care. They manage a group of patients, serving as a primary nurse when designated by unit assignment. The RN considers factors related to safety, effectiveness, competency, cost, and impact. The RN educates patients and families in health promotion and disease management using available resources. They utilize a working knowledge of pharmacology and safely administer medications according to hospital policy. The RN shares responsibility for productivity and effective resource utilization, including staffing and time management. The RN complies with all nursing practice standards, regulatory requirements, and policies. They actively participate in and support the Nursing Shared Governance Model. The RN engages in professional development and completes all mandatory education requirements. The RN integrates nursing research and current evidence into practice. They provide a supportive learning environment for new employees and students. The RN performs duties related to the Charge Nurse or Shift Coordinator role when assigned. The RN participates in the Clinical Ladder Program as knowledge and expertise develop. They may perform other duties as assigned.
