Underwriting Rate Auditor

: Overview Response for conducting investigations and researching policy rating factors to ensure correct policy rating and application of rating factors by agents and system. Partnering with Legal, Claims, and Underwriting leadership, this will include audits of insurance policies written by agents, independent agents, and customer service representatives to include the full life cycle of the insurance policy (new business, endorsement, renewal, and claims). The audits will evaluate adherence to underwriting guidelines, company procedures, rating accuracy, and correct risk acceptance, among other targeted areas. Essential Job Functions
  • Conducts daily, monthly, quarterly, and targeted audits of policies written by agents and rated by system.
  • Coordinates with Legal, Claims, and Underwriting leadership as necessary to document and support the Agent accountability tasks including but not limited to E&O pursuits and other business actions.
  • Develop and execute appropriate documentation to support agency accountability actions, including but not limited to suspension, termination, or DOI/regulatory referral.
  • Reports audit findings to audit team members and management.
  • Achieves deadlines set by management for each audit and evaluation.
  • Achieve individual performance standards for workload management to include categories of Productivity (95% goal) and Quality (95% goal). Must be able to meet productivity standards for handling incoming workload and ensure work items are efficiently and correctly processed.
  • Develops new audits and current audit enhancements.
  • Assesses and recommends changes to the quality review guidelines.
  • Identifies and recommends training enhancements.
  • Detects opportunities in the operations process and proposes recommendations to improve efficiencies.
  • Participates in special projects or performs duties in other areas as requested.
  • Communicates with other departments, including but not limited to Sales, Customer Service, and Underwriting.
  • Support team members to ensure all tasks are completed correctly according to team objectives.
  • Become a subject matter expert on underwriting processes and procedures; identify needs to address training gaps and provide coaching to improve performance.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, provide excellent customer service, and promote a positive team environment.
  • Own the tasks until completion, providing resolution on escalated files.
Desired Qualifications
  • Knowledgeable of and experience executing underwriting and company processes and procedures. Underwriting, insurance sales, and/or training experience is a plus.
  • Knowledgeable of and experience researching customer billing and payment history and processing insurance applications and endorsements.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts and apply basic math concepts.
  • Proven success working in a fast paced, task driven work environment.
  • Ability to multitask, be adaptive to change, and remain flexible to shift between assignments.
  • Excellent communications skills to build rapport and deepen relationship with team members and agents. Fluently communicate in English, both written and verbal. Bilingual skills are a plus.
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel and Word in daily work function with an eye for detail.
  • Internal candidates must not be currently on a corrective action plan or performance improvement plan.
  • High school diploma or GED
