Base pay range $75,000.00/yr - $85,000.00/yr Position Summary The Safety Specialist is responsible for supporting, developing, and implementing Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs that promote a safe, compliant, and risk-aware workplace. This role proactively identifies hazards, conducts comprehensive risk assessments, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to drive a strong safety culture throughout the organization. The ideal candidate has a solid understanding of EHS principles, strong analytical skills, and a hands‑on approach to problem‑solving. Key Responsibilities Conduct risk assessments, job hazard analyses (JHAs), and workplace inspections to identify potential hazards and recommend effective corrective actions. Support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of EHS policies, procedures, and training programs. Monitor and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations, as well as internal company standards. Lead incident investigations, determine root causes, and track corrective actions to completion. Maintain accurate EHS documentation, metrics, and reporting for internal review and compliance requirements. Partner with operations, engineering, and leadership teams to integrate safety considerations into daily activities and project planning. Facilitate or deliver training on topics such as hazard communication, emergency response, PPE use, and safe operating procedures. Assist in managing safety programs such as ergonomics, chemical safety, industrial hygiene, and contractor safety. Promote a proactive safety culture by engaging employees, conducting safety observations, and reinforcing best practices. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Proven experience in EHS roles with a strong background in hazard identification and risk assessment methodologies. Working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other applicable regulatory requirements. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to turn insights into actionable safety solutions. Excellent communication, training, and interpersonal skills. Professional certifications such as ASP, CSP, CHST, or equivalent (preferred but not required).
