Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical / Telemetry (Oncology Acute Tele)

Contract | Days (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM) | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 32-bed Oncology Acute Telemetry unit with a patient population that is approximately 85% oncology and 15% medical-surgical/telemetry, including surgical and medical patients.
• Maintain a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including PCTs, respiratory therapy, and pharmacy, all available 24/7.
• Interpret EKG rhythms using Philips telemetry monitoring system and manage patients on BiPAP and CPAP.
• Perform and maintain competency in sterile field procedures including Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes as validated through a required SIMs Lab assessment.
• Float to other Medical Surgical/Telemetry units as needed and participate in weekend and holiday rotation (minimum one weekend per month).
• May serve in a Charge Nurse or Oncology Resource RN capacity with a light patient assignment.

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license in good standing.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
• Minimum 2 years of Medical Surgical/Telemetry nursing experience.
• Proficiency with Cerner EMR.
• Demonstrated competency in sterile field technique, Foley catheter insertion, and central line dressing changes.
• Must pass a facility-administered exam on Day 1 of orientation and successfully complete a pass/fail SIMs Lab skills assessment.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Chemotherapy certification or prior oncology nursing experience.
• Experience interpreting EKG rhythms in a telemetry setting.
• Familiarity with BiPAP and CPAP management.
