Patient Transport Supervisor

Position Summary Provides direct leadership and guidance to staff to ensure transport times are being met, assists the EVS/Transport Manager to maintain quality and service, and supports JCAHO compliance and infection control practice. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Participate in staff selection, interviewing candidates and scheduling days off, holidays, and vacations in accordance with facility needs. Assign personnel to established work areas or project duties. Perform patient and customer rounding with Directors. Plan and coordinate project work to maintain proper frequencies. Ensure staff receive proper orientation, initial training, and ongoing education. Maintain and review duty lists with regular and relief associates. Assist nursing staff by transporting patients, locating equipment, and obtaining charts or other information. Log transportation associates in Bed‑Tracking zones, prepare beepers/keys, and ensure cleaning zones are staffed. Prioritize bed needs based on Bed Control requirements and discharge timing. Contact the EVS supervisor if Bed‑Tracking targets are not met. Answer all calls within three rings, identify department, and respond with a customer‑friendly tone. Ensure dispatch and hotline phones are forwarded to a live voice line when leaving the dispatch area. Attend daily shift huddles, monthly department meetings, and training sessions (meet 90% attendance). Transport patients and specimens safely across the hospital campus. Demonstrate safe practices and infection control principles during transport. Maintain logs, records, and communications accurately. Maintain and document repairs on gurneys and wheelchairs. Gather daily productivity data and submit biweekly reports. Submit all required paperwork/documentation on a daily or scheduled basis. Report departmental needs or problems to the Director and assist with management as needed. Assist Support Services staff during slower periods. Adhere to hospital policies, quality assessment, legal and infection control standards, and patient rights. Maintain patient confidentiality. Exhibit a positive attitude and professional behavior with all stakeholders. Chem locate own development needs and attend required courses as directed. In emergencies or crises, support nursing and other staff as needed. Proactively identify and correct quality assurance concerns with timely follow‑up. Participate in department staff meetings and ongoing training courses. Provide and monitor guidance and motivation to associates to maximize their potential. Disciplined associates following progressive guidelines. Monitor attendance and act on absenteeism patterns. Keep records and log books current, including service binders. Participate in quality assurance programs and perform inspections with Unit Directors. Assign and monitor equipment use, ensuring cleanliness and professionalism. Prepare disciplinary reports and conduct follow‑up investigations. Respond to concerns with urgency and take corrective action. Participate in associate performance evaluations. Maintain a safe work environment and report unsafe equipment. Maintain security integrity at the facility. Handle special requests or projects and perform other assigned duties. Assist transporters as needed. Ensure office, storage, and closets are clean and well maintained. Other duties as assigned. Position Requirements A. Education High school diploma or equivalent. B. Qualifications / Experience Minimum three years of leadership, supervisory, or lead experience in a hospital setting. C. Special Skills / Knowledge Proficient in Windows‑based office software: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
