Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment. This role involves working with a multidisciplinary team to ensure patient safety and comfort during various procedures, with a focus on maintaining sterile conditions and adhering to hospital policies and protocols.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform Foley catheter insertions, with competency in maintaining sterile field.
• Participate in SIMs Lab training for procedural skills, including central line dressing changes (specific to certain units).
• Assist in a range of surgical procedures, including open heart, vascular, thoracic, esophageal, and transplant surgeries.
• Educate patients and families on procedures and post-operative care.
• Work collaboratively with staff members to provide high-quality care and ensure effective communication.
• Stay up-to-date on hospital policies, equipment, and techniques pertinent to patient care.
• Maintain and document compliance with safety guidelines regarding lifts, restraints, and wound care.

Qualifications

• Current RN license.
• Certifications: BLS and ACLS required; CNOR preferred.
• Prior experience in a surgical or critical care setting is advantageous.
• Ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a team-oriented environment.
• Demonstrated competency in maintaining sterile fields.

Schedule and Shift Details

This position offers four 10-hour shifts per week, Monday through Friday, from 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM. Call is mandatory for 1-2 nights per week, including possible weekends and holiday coverage.

Unit Information

The Registered Nurse will work in a dynamic surgical unit featuring 6 operating rooms and 1 hybrid operating room, averaging approximately 7 cases per day, with a maximum of 15 cases.

Additional Information

Floating may be required to the general OR or BNI OR as needed. All candidates must be prepared to undergo training and assessments related to lifts, restraints, and wound care, although these components will primarily serve educational purposes.

Cancellation Policy

The facility reserves the right to cancel shifts as necessary, with specific limits based on the length of the assignment.
