Airport Maintenance TechnicianLet your career take off with the Williston International Airport as an Airport Maintenance Technician!Responsibility Summary:Responsible for performing wide variety of skilled and semi-skilled tasks to maintain airport facilities, airfield surfaces, grounds, equipment, and systems.Supervisor:Airport Maintenance ManagerSupervision Exercised:NoneFLSA Status:Non-ExemptEssential Job Functions:Essential responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:Perform a wide variety of heavy labor and semi-skilled maintenance tasks.Perform preventative maintenance on airport buildings.Operate airport equipment safely and effectively to include snow equipment, sweepers, light/medium trucks, stripers, tractors, riding mowers, etc.Perform maintenance upkeep on airport equipment and groundskeeping.Perform rough carpentry work and assist with electrical, mechanical, and facility maintenance projectsMonitor deviations from federal, state and airport operating rules and regulations and issues work orders as required.Carry out responsibilities outlined in the Airport Emergency Plan (AEP).Conduct thorough terminal inspections and occasionally perform janitorial duties.Communicate effectively with airport administration, airport operations, contractors, tenants, other officials, and the public.Oversee contract services related to airport facilities and operations.Represent the Airport and City of Williston in a professional manner through positive customer interactions.Conduct facility and terminal inspections; assist with janitorial or hands-on tasks as needed.Perform all duties in accordance with City of Williston policies and procedures.Perform other duties as assigned by the Airport Director or Assistant Airport Director.NOTE: The functions and duties listed are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed and reflect the general details necessary to describe principal functions of the job as identified and shall not be considered as a detailed description of all work requirements that may be inherent in the position. The job description does not constitute an employment agreement between the employer and employee and is subject to change by the employer as the needs of the employer and requirements of the job change.Education and Experience:High school diploma; and satisfactory work experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.Required Skills and Qualifications:Must be 18 years of age.Must possess a valid ND Commercial Driver's License (CDL), or ability to obtain one within 180 days of employment and maintain a motor vehicle record compatible with the City's insurance company's criteria.Prior work experience operating and maintaining equipment and facilities.Through in-house training or through training arranged by the City of Williston, must be able to become certified in the following areas:Acquires all licenses and/or certifications currently required, or as may be required, by regulatory agencies.Ability to perform the duties of this classification.Individual must be willing and able to work all shifts, including nights, weekends, & holidays.Ability to work in and support a teamwork environment.Strong computer skills with ability to effectively utilize programs such as the Microsoft suite with ability to learn new programs introduced in the future.Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.Preferred Skills and Qualifications:1 year of maintenance experience preferred.Language Skills:Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, standard operating guidelines, operations & maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language effectively.Reasoning Ability:Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several variables.Communications:Regular contacts within the department and City of Williston, third parties, outside representatives, community groups, and mutual aid partnerships as needed.Use of Equipment and/or Computers:Regular use of technology and equipment for job-related functions will be required including but not limited to computers, phones & printers. Operation of heavy equipment, light equipment, department vehicles, Mowers, Front End Loader, Snow Blower, Snowplow, ARFF Fire Truck, and others as assigned is expected. The position requires the use of non-hazardous and hazardous chemicals, fuels, grease, degreasers, paint thinner, cleaning supplies, fuel, oils, lubricants, antifreeze, battery acid, solvents, office supplies and other materials used in the maintenance of vehicles.Physical Demands:This is primarily a manual labor classification position. Standing in work areas and walking between work areas and driving to various locations will be required. There will be a regular expectation to pull, push, reach, walk, stand, sit, crawl, kneel, bend and have the use of hands and fingers, use of both eyes for sight, including ability to distinguish color and distance, hearing, extensive use of arms and legs to climb on top of, under, in and around equipment and facilities; work in proximity and use of computer screens; verbally communicating, operating motorized vehicles and equipment, and moving objects, components, parts, tires, oil drums and other equipment, tools and machinery. Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception. The employee must be able to physically move, lift, carry and manipulate up to 100 pounds.If requested, reasonable accommodation may be provided to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions and expectations, absent undue hardship to the department.Work Environment:While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is subject to vibration. The employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee frequently works in outdoor weather conditions; in high, precarious places; and is exposed to risk of electrical shock and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment ranges from moderate to loud. Essential functions require maintaining condition necessary for sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time. The employee will work at all Williston International Airport facilities and will be expected to keep work areas clean, safe, and functional. The employee may be required to work extended hours including evenings and weekends.Regular, predictable, and dependable attendance is required.Relocation reimbursement is available up to $3,000.
