Entry range: $103,048.00 - $110,921.00 Pay will be dependent upon experience. Maximum of 5 years admin/principal experience considered for new hire placement. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Works closely with elementary principals in the development of the educational program at the elementary school level and coordinates the program(s) with the other levels to create an effective, coherent PK-12 curriculum; submits any suggested curricular changes to the Director of Teaching and Learning for review and approval by the Superintendent.
- Works cooperatively with the staff for the best interest of all students: works with principal to organize the total school program, plans staff meetings, appoints committees, and assigns teachers to their various duties within limits of Board and Administrative policy.
- Assists and supports the principals in providing for an educational environment that permits and encourages creativity in the learning process.
- Works with the principals to coordinate the efforts of teachers, parents and special team members in working with students in meeting individual needs.
- Serves as the instructional leader for the elementary school and preschool.
- Works with teachers to improve instructional techniques .
- Responsible for the evaluation of staff according to established criteria and district policy as requested by the principal
- Conducts a continuous program of supervision of classroom instruction to ensure implementation of the district curriculum.
- Assists the principals in the coordination with the Director of Exceptional Student Services to ensure proper placement and support for students with special needs. Works with principal to approve all modifications to standard educational programs for individual students
- Assists the principal in his/her responsibility for general student discipline of the school, shall have authority to suspend students as provided by the laws of the State of Colorado; such suspensions should be reported to the Superintendent.
- Assists with supervision of the registration, placement, evaluation and progress reporting of students.
- Maintains good public relations with the community through parent groups, press releases, newsletters and community projects.
- Handles in a cordial manner, complaints affecting the school and reports to the Principal and Superintendent any matter of a serious nature, especially those matters not satisfactorily settled.
- Works with principal to plan and facilitate the orientation and training of teachers to school and District
- Assists in supervision of classroom instruction to insure implementation of the district curriculum; and makes recommendations for in-service training for teachers in the building.
- Coordinates and monitors schedules for all subject areas and all activities to insure implementation of district curriculum.
- Implements district policy and procedures, and interprets policy and procedures for building personnel and students.
- Serves as School Assessment Coordinator (SAC) for all state and local student testing planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation. Provides training for teachers for all administration. Works closely with DAC and other SAC's for testing dates, IT needs, space, etc.
- Works closely with District data system administration for testing, student data, enrollment, contacts, Nurse needs and tracking, etc.
- Exercises decisive leadership in crisis situations. May serve on the District Reunification Team.
- Remains current about changes and developments in the field of education.
- Assists the principal as he/she conducts ongoing evaluation of curricular and co-curricular programs.
- Participates in the District level committee meetings as requested and the Administrative Team meetings.
- Supports the principals in the leadership and direction for the development and implementation of the building level improvement plan that aligns to the district-wide strategic plan.
- Uses data to assess student growth and school improvement.
- Provides counsel and advice to the principal..
- Facilitates positive school-community relations.
- Responsible for the elementary school in the absence of the principal.
- Shares the responsibility for student attendance with the principal, serving as the school's rep on the SARB board.
- Assists with the general elementary school organization and routine duties as they arise.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Possess or is eligible for a Colorado Principal or Administrator License or in program eligible for Interim Principal Authorization.
- Minimum of five years of successful experience as a teacher.
- Knowledge of school business and finance.
- Experience in curriculum development and instructional techniques.
- Trained in licensed personnel performance evaluation.(CDE e-train)
- Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Current or able to secure and maintain CPI training.
