Ecologist/Biologist

Role Description Arcadis is seeking an entry‑level Biologist/Ecologist to join our Enviro Socio Permitting team in New York City. This successful candidate will support environmental desktop reviews, data collection efforts, regulatory permitting, construction management, and compliance monitoring and adaptive management. The role will work closely with a team of scientists, engineers, and planners to support a wide range of clients throughout the region. Role Accountabilities Apply technical knowledge to collaborate with client teams and provide high quality deliverables to support planning and permitting. Conduct desktop assessments and field surveys (e.g., habitat evaluations and presence/absence surveys) to evaluate potential project impacts to sensitive habitats or special‑status species. Assist in the preparation of technical reports, including species survey reports, wetland delineation reports, mitigation and monitoring plans, biological assessments, and permit applications. Carry out on‑site construction compliance monitoring to ensure special‑status species and habitat impact avoidance, and to monitor mitigation projects against performance criteria. Support regulatory reviews to minimize impacts to regulated habitats, develop alternative analyses, and complete impact assessments. Travel up to 25%, including overnight travel. Qualifications and Experience Bachelor’s degree in science (ecology, wetlands, soil science, water management, or related field). Preference for candidates with soil science coursework. One year of environmental field experience or an advanced degree in environmental science or a related discipline. Knowledge of east‑coast ecology, wetlands, and habitats, special‑status plants and wildlife, or botanical knowledge. Comfortable working in remote field locations. Proficient using a hand‑held Trimble GPS. Benefits Salary range: $66,300 - $89,424 per year.
