Each year approximately 5,000 FRCC students transfer to four‑year universities and FRCC offers more than 36 career training programs that prepare students for immediate employment and rewarding careers. Last year, more than 5,000 high school students took concurrent enrollment classes with us, earning college credit without having to pay college tuition. Job Summary: The Licensed Mental Health Counselor provides counseling and mental health support to FRCC student body. This position provides short‑term, individual counseling, group counseling, programming, and crisis intervention to enrolled students, including planning, implementation, case management, and evaluation. This position works with the FRCC Behavior Intervention Team and the Department of Student Support, which provides comprehensive student success through behavioral intervention, resource connection, case management, and success planning. This position will require regular travel between the 3 campus locations and will require the ability to provide virtual counseling services. You will have the opportunity to work remotely occasionally, but this position does require a strong on‑campus presence and will need to travel to all three FRCC campuses. Duties & Responsibilities: Clinical Mental Health Counseling Services Provides short‑term individual and group counseling to FRCC students. Provides crisis intervention services, as needed. Provides remote/virtual counseling when requested. Conducts intake assessments and biopsychosocial evaluations to determine appropriate level of care and treatment planning. Assesses students for risk of harm to self or others; completes safety planning and crisis intervention as needed. Facilitates timely referrals to community mental health providers, psychiatric services, or higher levels of care when student needs exceed the scope of college counseling services. When available, provides drop‑in or same‑day de‑escalation services for students in distress. Consults with faculty, staff and campus partners regarding students of concern, following appropriate confidentiality guidelines. Coordinates care with campus partners such as Disability Support Services and Student Support Services to promote holistic student wellbeing. Maintains up to 21‑25 hours of direct clinical services per week. Adheres to professional ethical standards and Colorado licensure requirements. Must possess and maintain a current license to practice in Colorado (LPC, LCSW, LMFT, etc.) and be in good standing with DORA throughout employment; all licensure fees are the responsibility of the employee. Education and Outreach Maintains knowledge of appropriate community resources (e.g., training programs, social services, mental health services, etc.) for student referrals. Provides outreach to faculty, staff, students, and guest regarding available services for students. Participates in college‑wide events to promote awareness of counseling services. Represents FRCC Mental Health Counseling on college committees or task forces. Stays current on best practices, emerging student mental health trends, and relevant legal/ethical developments, incorporating this knowledge into improving FRCC Mental Health Counseling services. Supports college‑wide crisis services and intervention response. Administrative & Supervision Provides clinical supervision to graduate student clinical interns. Maintains accurate, timely, and confidential clinical documentation in compliance with Colorado state law, FRCC policy, professional standards and FERPA regulations. Participates in regular case consultation, supervision, and staff meetings as required. Manages scheduling, caseload, and administrative workflow to ensure timely access to services for students. Assists in the development, review and implementation of departmental policies, procedures, and protocols. Ensures compliance with college, state, and federal regulations governing student records, confidentiality, and mental health services. Cross Campus/Community Collaboration Provides support for the FRCC Behavior Intervention Team for assessment of risk, as needed. Requires regular travel between the 3 campus locations Attends and actively participates in department, division, and college‑wide meetings, and professional development activities. Provides outreach programming and workshops on topics related to collegiate mental health which includes classroom presentations, staff presentations and collaboration with other campus partners to integrate mental health education into broader student success initiatives. Collaborates with campus partners—including Advising, Disability Support Services, Student Support Services, TRIO, Case Management, and others—to coordinate care and promote student success. Works with the next level supervisor to brainstorm changes that can be implemented to improve a program or service that the department provides. Cultural Self-Awareness: Willing to examine own beliefs and acknowledge own biases and how they have impacted or may impact the ability to serve students. Cultural Competence: Recognize the need to become knowledgeable about the ways to communicate and support students of other backgrounds. Change approach to reflect the new learning. Equity Mindedness: Learn to view department operations through an equity lens. Be willing to call attention to processes that lead to inequity in serving students. Understand the College's equity goals and how your role supports FRCC's ability to achieve those goals. Operational Planning: Have an understanding and knowledge of the college's various strategic plans and understand how your work supports each of them. Understand the department's expectations to find proactive ways to support the goals of the department. Leading from the Middle: Lead from your position by not only closely examine your responsibilities for the department, but in bringing forward ideas to your supervisor the college should consider to be more student centered. Team Building: Participate in team-building exercises and strive to build positive and collaborative relationships with colleagues both within the department and in other departments within the college. Collaboration: Willingness to work with colleagues across departments to further student engagement. Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree in relevant field of work Clinical licensure from the State of Colorado (LCSW, LPC, LMFT, Licensed Psychologist, or similar) and ability to provide services without clinical supervision Experience providing clinical mental health counseling Commitment to diversity, inclusiveness, and equity; ability to work with a diverse college community Selection Process: The selection process for this position will be conducted through a competitive, merit-based evaluation of all qualified applicants.
