Referral Coordinator

Medical Referral Coordinator We are seeking a detail-oriented Medical Referral Coordinator to manage all aspects of patient referrals. The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing patient needs, coordinating patient referrals, maintaining accurate medical records, and ensuring seamless communication between patients, physicians, and healthcare providers. Our ideal candidate is well-versed in medical terminology, has a strong understanding of medical procedures and the healthcare system, and excellent interpersonal skills. Primary Responsibilities: Assess patient needs and identify suitable specialists or healthcare providers for referrals. Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records. Collaborate with healthcare providers to streamline the referral process. Communicate with patients, their families, and healthcare providers to ensure a smooth referral process. Monitor and manage pending referrals and follow up on completed referrals. Ensure all referral procedures comply with legal and medical standards. Following up with patients and healthcare providers to ensure timely delivery of care Identifying and resolving any issues or delays in the referral process Maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to HIPAA regulations Requirements Qualifications: Required: Knowledge of medical terminology, healthcare systems, and patient care. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to maintain accurate and organized records. Proficiency in medical software systems. High school diploma: additional certification in healthcare administration or similar field is a plus. Preferred: Proven work experience as a Referral Coordinator or similar role Strong customer service focus Effective verbal and written communication skills Teamwork orientation Relevant training and/or certifications as a Referral Coordinator Working Conditions/Physical Requirements: Physically demanding, high-stress environment Exposure to blood, sharp instruments and other devices, body fluids and tissue, communicable diseases, chemicals, radiation, and repetitive motions Full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients Manual and finger dexterity Hand and eye coordination Standing and walking for extensive periods of time Lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 lbs. Corrected vision and hearing to within normal range Working under stressful conditions
