SENIOR LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSE-F/C OPS - 60957231 This is a 20-hour per week, highly responsible professional position serving as the Senior Licensed Practical Nurse (F/C‑OPS) within the Nursing Unit at North Florida Evaluation and Treatment Center (NFETC). The role requires independent judgment, proactive responsibility, and meticulous attention to detail in a fast‑paced forensic mental health rehabilitation setting. Specific Duties and Responsibilities Administer oral, injectable, and controlled medications according to unit policies and within scope of practice in a mental health setting. Participate in Hospital Infection Control processes and report potential infections. Prepare paperwork and administer medications for consults to EKG, EEG, X‑ray, clinics, and outside appointments. Assist physician/APRN/PA during sick calls, physical examinations, and documentation of referrals and labs. Coordinate resident appointments with ward staff, ensuring timely medication administration. Provide emergency medical/psychiatric treatment within scope of practice and notify supervising nurse/physician as needed. Enter lab orders and report equipment problems to nursing staff. Adhere to resident rights and advocacy, complying with unit, hospital, and departmental policies. Assist with admissions, transfers, and discharge documentation. Document resident care in incident reports, progress notes, and medication profiles per NFETC operating procedures. Monitor medication side effects, report to nursing staff, and participate in medication education groups. Maintain, clean, inventory, and restock medical/nursing equipment and supplies. Perform related duties as required to support resident quality care. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of nursing principles, human anatomy, and physiology. Proficiency with medical equipment and instruments used for nursing care. Manual dexterity and ability to administer medications and treatments. Ability to work with patients and interpret medical instructions. Ability to observe patients’ symptoms, plan and coordinate care, and communicate effectively. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Minimum Qualifications Licensure as a practical nurse in Florida (or eligible under Florida statutes) with at least two years of professional nursing experience.
