Purpose of Position Designs, codes, tests, implements, and supports internally developed application software for all areas of RISC Services including the Risk Management, Information Security, and Systemwide Compliance offices at UT System Administration. Makes recommendations towards the development of new code or reuse of existing code or modules. Serves as analyst responsible for technical analysis, documentation of business requirements, system analysis, and system configurations. Essential Functions Conducts application design, coding, testing, validation and implementation for complex applications, and application code reviews. Maintains applications software and collects and reviews performance monitoring information as needed. Designs complex software systems that address broad technical or scientific needs. Analyzes technical related problems and exercise judgment based on analysis. Coordinates and communicates with stakeholders and team members for project planning and troubleshooting problems. Provides technical and/or project management leadership on large projects. Assists in resolving customer complaints with software and responds to suggestions for improvements. Works with other technical staff and stakeholders to understand problems with software and resolve them. Interfaces with clients, vendors, and other UT Institutions to facilitate the appropriate exchange of information and data. Research available solutions and integrate them into existing computing environments. Makes recommendations on whether to develop new code, reuse existing code, or purchase new software packages Prepares system documentation, develops standards and education for users. Provide end user training on application software and may develop user manuals. Other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong written and oral communication skills. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration or a related field and 5 years of related work experience. One year of college (30 semester hours) may be substituted for one year of the required experience on a year-for-year basis, allowing up to a maximum of 4 years substituted experience. This position requires the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT System Administration and it's infrastructure. Preferred Qualifications Experience querying and designing databases with Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio, utilizing stored procedures and/or Entity Framework to interact with the data. Knowledge of ADA requirements and application security. A knowledge of responsive design techniques for mobile-friendly applications Experience gathering requirements, and documenting and testing complex technical processes. Experience developing and documenting work requirements, rules, workflows, reports, and presentations for automation projects. Experience with performing data analysis and/or data validation. Exceptional analytical, multi-tasking and problem-solving skills. Self-managed and highly motivated with a strong drive for delivering high quality results. Working Conditions Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation Uses standard office equipment Requires occasional evening or weekend hours Additional Information The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to a minimum of 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
