The responsibility of this role includes managing the people, department, and functions in the procurement of materials, supplies, and services necessary for the maintenance and operation of McGard, LLC/L. D. McCauley, LLC and Special Products Division areas. This position reports directly to the Vice President of Operations and teams closely with the Production Control Manager. It supervises Purchasing Department employees and directs the activities of Purchasing Department in the procurement of raw materials, components, finished goods, and outside services.

Job duties include creating, maintaining, and administering the Purchasing Department's procurement procedures, developing and executing purchasing strategies to maximize operations stability and minimize costs, working closely with management and other departments to define and implement supply chain best practices, creating and reporting purchasing metrics, leading procurement responses and actions based upon supply chain data, actively tracking price changes and on-time delivery performance, presenting Purchasing Department performance reports and strategy reviews to upper management, assisting in the research, development, and qualification of suppliers and supply chain partners, managing supplier relationships and evaluations and resolving supplier grievances or disputes, negotiating pricing, terms & conditions of purchasing contracts for goods and services, actively reviewing forecasts, market conditions, and business trends to advise on optimum inventory levels, leading efforts with suppliers in the investigation, resolution, and expediting of parts for quality or delivery concerns, defining staffing needs, hiring, training, and supervising department personnel including Buyers and Purchasing Agents, coaching, mentoring, and developing staff, including succession planning and performance reviews, supervising personnel in the execution of their purchasing responsibilities, collaborating with Production Control and Inventory Control Supervisors to support production needs, working closely with Finance and IT departments in structuring and reporting of materials and costing information, administering all oversees compliance to ISO, IATF, and other regulatory requirements for all purchasing functions, overseeing Diversity Sourcing, Supplier Sustainability, and other customer-required purchasing related programs, working with the Quality department to require actions from our suppliers regarding defective product, occasional travel (up to 20%) may be required for visits to vendors and suppliers, and being required to follow any other instruction and to perform any other duties requested by their Supervisor.

Education/skill requirements include the ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and orally, a bachelor's degree required (Master's degree preferred) in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Finance, Economics, Manufacturing/Industrial/Operations Management, or a closely related field, minimum five (5) years of related experience in a Purchasing or Supply Chain capacity, minimum two (2) years of direct experience in personnel supervision and department budgeting, advanced knowledge in the configuration and use of ERP/MRP software systems, and maintaining a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating with customers, vendors, co-workers, and management in a positive manner and maintaining a safe and supportive work environment.
