FAHRNEY KEEDY Boonsboro, Maryland CNA / PROGRAM ASSISTANT – ADULT DAY SERVICES $16.50 - $20.50 per hour Full time – Monday thru Friday (30-40 hours per week) YOU MUST HAVE A CURRENT CNA LICENSE ON THE MARYLAND BOARD OF NURSING The primary purpose of a Program Assistant/CNA for Adult Day Services is to assist the Director of Adult Day Services in the day-to-day operation and administrative duties in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and the policies, procedures and practices of Fahrney-Keedy. DELEGATION OF AUTHORITY As a Program Assistant/CNA for the ADC, you are delegated the programming and administrative authority, responsibilities and accountability necessary for carrying out your assigned duties. EMPLOYMENT AT WILL Employment with Fahrney-Keedy is “at will”. Either the associate or Fahrney-Keedy may terminate the employment relationship for any reason at any time without notice, regardless of the length of employment or the granting of benefits of any kind, including but not limited to benefits which provide for vesting based on length of service. CONFIDENTIALITY Fahrney-Keedy associates recognize that Fahrney-Keedy has and will have information regarding financial, personal and medical affairs and other vital information (collectively, “information”) which are valuable, special and unique assets of Fahrney-Keedy. Associates agree that they will not at any time or in any manner solicit, collect or divulge any Information to any third party without the prior written consent of Fahrney-Keedy. This information is Company property which may not be disclosed outside the facility unless properly released for publication. Associates will protect the Information and treat it as strictly confidential. Associates should not discuss Fahrney-Keedy affairs with others. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Assists participants in boarding and departing from Company vehicles. Transfers and assists with lifting participants as needed. Assists participants with activities of daily living (ADL’s). Assists with preparing and serving meals and snacks for participants. Ensures that each participant is served his/her proper diet and food is prepared and served appropriately. Reports any changes in diet to RN/Director of Health Services. Assists participants in the use of the restroom (especially those participants needing reminders to use the toilet and wash their hands) and shower when necessary. Ensures that all incontinent participants are kept clean and dry at all times. Assists Activity Coordinator with inventory of activity supplies and the cleaning activity and storage areas. Escorts participants on outings, including field trips and doctors’ appointments and ensures that all participants are properly supervised. Assists with the implementation of activities and leading other activities as designated by the Activities Coordinator. Performs other duties as assigned. Performs general administrative requirements, such as completing necessary forms, charts, reports, etc. and submit these as may be required. Maintains a friendly, productive, working relationship with other members of the department, and facility. Records each participant’s daily arrival and departure time. Reports any complaints or grievances made by participants to the Director of ADC. Participates and cooperate with any facility surveys (inspections) made by authorized government agencies as requested by the Director of ADC. Agrees not to disclose assigned user ID codes and passwords for accessing resident/facility information and promptly report suspected or known violations of such disclosure to the Director of ADC. Agrees not to disclose participants’ protected health information and promptly report suspected or known violations of such disclosure to the Director of ADC. Records medical and administrative information in accordance with our established electronic charting and documentation policies and procedures. Maintains the daily census report and submits to the Business Office. Maintains an up-to-date roster of participants for ADC. Answers telephone, page calls, delivers messages to participants, etc. Maintains current listing of emergency phone numbers of ADC. Forwards new diet orders and/or diet changes to the Director of Food Services. Sorts and delivers mail to ADC staff. Completes accident or incident reports. Completes necessary medical and administrative records upon the participant’s entrance or exit from the ADC program. Directs visitors to appropriate ADC staff. Reports any known or suspected unauthorized attempt to access the facility’s information system. Ensures that departmental computer workstations left unattended are properly logged off or the password protected automatic screensaver activates within established policy guidelines. Completes all annual training and in‑services as required in the COMAR regulations for Adult Day Care in the State of Maryland. Safety & Infection Control Keeps work area clean, organized and clutter‑free. Knows locations of fire extinguishers, fire exits, and policies regarding fires and other emergency disasters. Follows established safety precautions in the performance of all duties. Reports all hazardous conditions and equipment to the Director of ADC. Reports all safety violations. Reports any communicable or infectious disease to the Director of ADC. Wears and/or use safety equipment and supplies. Safely uses only the equipment you have been trained to use. Reports defective equipment to the Director of ADC. Practices appropriate handwashing and use of hand sanitizer at all times. WORKING ENVIRONMENT Works throughout the Adult Day Center. Subject to frequent interruptions. Subject to hostile and emotionally upset participants, family members, visitors, etc. May work beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary and may work in other positions when necessary. Subject to call‑back during emergency conditions (i.e., severe weather, evacuation, post disaster, etc.). Subject to handling of and exposure to hazardous chemicals. Subject to exposure to infectious waste diseases, conditions, etc., including TB, HIV, Hep. B, etc. Attends and participates in educational programs. Subject to injury from falls, burns from equipment, odors, etc. throughout the workday, as well as reactions from dust, disinfectants, and/or other air contaminants. PARTICIPANT RIGHTS Maintain the confidentiality of all participant care information including protected health information. Report known or suspected incidents of unauthorized disclosure of such information. Ensure that you treat all participants fairly with kindness, dignity, and respect. Ensure that all personal participant care is provided in privacy. Report all grievances and complaints made by the participants to the Director of ADC RN. Report all allegations of participant abuse and/or misappropriation of participant property to the Fahrney-Keedy Abuse Coordinator. Honor the participant’s refusal of treatment participation in activities. Report such requests to your Supervisor. SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language. Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age‑related needs of the participants served. Must be a supportive team member, contribute to and be an example of team work and team concept. Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action. Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with staff, participants, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public. Must possess the ability and willingness to work harmoniously with other staff. Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as the willingness to handle difficult participants. Must be willing to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing ADC practices. Must be able to relate information concerning a participant’s condition. Must not pose a direct threat to the health and safety of other individuals in the workplace. EDUCATION High School Diploma or GED is required. PRIOR/RELATED EXPERIENCE On‑the‑job training provided; however, a basic knowledge of adult day center practices is helpful. PHYSICAL & SENSORY REQUIREMENTS Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday. Must be able to speak and write the English language in an understandable manner. Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position. Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to ensure that the requirements of this position can be fully met. Must function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with participants, staff, and support agencies. Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of this facility, which include a medical and physical examination. Must be able to relate to and work with the ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and, at times, hostile people within the facility. Must not have a weight‑lifting restriction. Must be able to push, pull, move and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry a minimum distance of 50 feet. May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations. #J-18808-Ljbffr
