Position Overview and Qualifications

In the role of Nurse Extern, you will be an integral member of the nursing team, gaining practical experience while exploring the comprehensive responsibilities of a Registered Nurse. You will assist in delivering safe and compassionate care that enhances patients' lives, all while developing the skills and confidence necessary to take on more advanced duties as you advance in your nursing education.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Providing vital patient care by assisting with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), monitoring vital signs, facilitating mobility, and ensuring comfort and hygiene.
• Carrying out nursing tasks such as wound care, catheter management, specimen collection, and other fundamental procedures as you gain experience and enhance your competencies.
• Accurately documenting care and promptly communicating updates with the nursing team to ensure seamless and coordinated patient care.
• Assisting patients and their families in understanding care plans and providing guidance for health and recovery.
• Maintaining clean and safe patient areas by adhering to infection control practices, managing equipment, and keeping an organized environment.
• Fostering your professional growth and improving patient care by engaging in learning opportunities, sharing ideas for enhancement, and collaborating with your supervisor or preceptor to develop your personal career advancement plan.

Required Qualifications:

• Basic Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of starting employment.
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification must be obtained within 2 years of starting employment.
• Currently enrolled in an accredited nursing program.
