Overview

Purpose Statement/Position Summary: The Optometry Program Supervisor is responsible for the supervision and management of the Altamed-CHLA Division of Ophthalmology Optometry Program. This oversight includes scheduling, training, coordinating and monitoring productivity for the personnel. Will act as a primary point of contact with the partnering Altamed sites to coordinate and streamline efforts.

Responsible for providing quality eye care to the pediatric population independently as well as co-management of high acuity eye disease with ophthalmology. Evaluates vision, determines the refractive error and provides fitting of contact lenses and glasses for infants and children. Performs internal and external evaluation of the eyes, and formulates an appropriate treatment plan per scope of practice as regulated by the California State Board of Optometry. In addition, performs a variety of patient care activities to assist physicians and ophthalmology administrative division.

Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience: Minimum 5+ years clinical practice in pediatric based optometry with co-management with ophthalmology. Preference for at least one year of administrative experience in clinical setting including exposure to clinical operations. Organizational, interpersonal communication and critical thinking skills required.

Education/Licensure/Certification: Doctorate of Optometry degree from a college or university recognized by the Accreditation Council on Optometric Education. Residency or Fellowship in Pediatric Optometry from an accredited program. California Board of Optometry License. Current Basic Life Support Certification

Pay Scale Information

USD $80,288.00 - USD $144,518.00

Final determination of a successful candidate's starting pay will vary based on a number of factors, including, but not limited to education and experience within the job or the industry. The pay scale listed for this position is generally for candidates that meet the specified qualifications and requirements listed on this specific job description. Additional pay may be determined for those candidates that exceed these specified qualifications and requirements.
