Level 2 RN Oncology

This nurse is responsible for patient assessment, care planning, medication administration, and collaboration with interdisciplinary healthcare teams. The primary focus is on delivering high-quality, compassionate care to patients.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' physical, emotional, and psychological health upon admission and throughout their hospital stay.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team.
• Monitor patient progress and adjust care plans based on changes in conditions or responses to treatment.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments accurately.
• Monitor and assess patient responses to medications and treatments.
• Perform wound care, dressing changes, and manage drains or tubes as required.
• Monitor vital signs and document all patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes.
• Identify and report any changes in patient status or complications.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals to deliver holistic patient care.
• Participate in daily rounds and provide updates on patient status to the medical team.
• Communicate effectively with patients and families regarding care plans and treatment options.
• Educate patients and their families on managing conditions and preparing for discharge.
• Provide guidance on post-hospital care and offer emotional support to patients and families.
• Monitor patients recovering from surgery, assessing for complications.
• Provide post-operative care, including pain management and wound care.
• Ensure that patients are educated on managing their recovery at home.
• Maintain patient safety by following protocols for infection control and safety measures.
• Follow hospital policies related to medication administration and patient confidentiality.
• Recognize and respond to emergencies, providing immediate care for life-threatening conditions.
• Perform life-saving interventions as needed.

Qualifications:

• Registered Nurse with a valid state nursing license.
• Strong clinical knowledge and nursing skills, particularly in patient assessment and medication administration.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple patients and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Compassionate, patient-focused approach to nursing care.
