Associate Director of Inpatient Coding

Position Associate Director, Coding — responsible for managing multiple specialties within the coding department, covering Professional and Outpatient facility coding. Analyzes and evaluates departmental policies, develops program goals, maintains quality performance, and analyzes data to identify denials/errors. Coordinates and monitors work activity, prepares annual operating budgets, and handles personnel actions and policies within the unit or department. Responsibilities Supervise multiple specialties in inpatient facility coding with responsibility for planning, coordinating, and controlling work procedures; analyze and evaluate departmental programs, providing guidance to coding managers. Define qualifications and performance expectations for staff, ensure a qualified and competent team through assessment and feedback; counsel employees and manage compensation as needed. Develop department goals aligned with institutional policy and forecasts; establish work goals. Coordinate and integrate processes with other departments; plan priorities and initiate policy or method changes. Prepare an annual operating budget; define financial targets and analyze variances to identify cost-reduction opportunities. Create and exceed service standards; use customer satisfaction, best practices, and market information to improve service and satisfaction; monitor performance against standards. Communicate within and across departments to maximize effectiveness and information sharing. Establish and evaluate quality assurance standards, programs, and procedures to meet accreditation/licensure requirements.
