Afterschool Tutor – Elementary Literacy (Spanish/English Preferred)

Pay: Starting at $22.00 per hour
Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 2:30 PM–5:00 PM | Friday Zoom Staff Meeting 2:30-3:30PM
Start Date: September 8, 2026

Training Week: August 31, 2026

End Date: November 20, 2026

Bay Area Tutoring Association is seeking enthusiastic Afterschool Tutors to support elementary students through small-group literacy instruction focused on reading, writing, and English Language Arts (ELA).

Many of our students are bilingual, and Spanish-English bilingual tutors are strongly encouraged to apply . This is a great opportunity for bilingual education majors, aspiring teachers, and individuals interested in gaining hands-on experience working in schools.

Cambridge Elementary School

Responsibilities

Provide small-group tutoring in reading and writing
Support bilingual students and English Language Learners (ELL)
Help students strengthen literacy skills, confidence, and academic success
Build positive relationships with students
Follow provided curriculum, lesson plans, and training materials
Participate in staff meetings and professional development

Qualifications

Preferred:

Spanish-English bilingual ability
Experience working with children or students
Education majors, teaching credential candidates, or individuals interested in education

Required:

Passion for education and helping students succeed
Strong communication skills and patience with students of varying ages and abilities
Reliable attendance and commitment to scheduled shifts
Professional and positive attitude
