Location: Mercy Medical Center Redding, Redding, CA

Start Date: 08/28/2026

Schedule/Availability: Sept - Dec dates available, including night shifts (3 p.m. - 1 a.m.)

Duration: Ongoing locum coverage through the end of the year

Shift: Evening (PM shift) with potential flexibility

Hours/week: Varies based on schedule

Licenses/Certs: CA Physician Assistant License required

Experience: Trauma/Critical Care experience preferred

Pay & Benefits

Hourly Rate: Competitive pay packages (up to $215/hour depending on experience)

What You'll Do

• Take patient histories, perform physical exams, and develop assessments and treatment plans
• Order and review diagnostic tests, lab work, and therapeutic services
• Recognize urgent situations and initiate appropriate treatment
• Counsel patients on health matters, medications, and long-term disease management
• Coordinate patient admissions and ensure proper documentation of medical records
• Facilitate referrals to community resources and other healthcare providers
• Assist as a surgical first or second assist in trauma surgeries (if trained/qualified)
• Support emergency procedures such as wound debridement, fracture management, and central line insertions
• Participate in multidisciplinary trauma team activities and patient management

What You Need

• Active CA Physician Assistant license
• Trauma or critical care experience preferred
• Proven ability to perform in high-acuity settings
• Strong interpersonal and clinical skills
• Ability to work evening shifts and support urgent care needs

About the Assignment Join a dynamic team supporting the Trauma Service at Mercy Medical Center Redding, a Level II Trauma Center dedicated to delivering exceptional emergency and trauma care. You will be supporting one trauma surgeon, managing a daily census of 20-25 patients, primarily adult patients with minimal pediatric cases, in a fast-paced environment.
