Manager, Payroll & Benefits Location: Parsippany, NJ We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Manager to oversee all payroll and employee benefits functions within our organization, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. This role manages the end‑to‑end payroll process, comprehensive benefits programs, and adherence to federal, state, and local regulations, while influencing HR operations and leading key initiatives. Key Responsibilities Payroll and Timekeeping Serve as the functional lead for the Labor module during an enterprise ERP implementation, including requirements, process mapping, configuration, user acceptance testing, and change management. Manage the end‑to‑end payroll process for 1,000+ employees bi‑weekly, including hour import, payroll preview audits, and PR register reviews. Act as the primary authority on payroll taxes and file required tax forms (941, 940, W‑2, W‑3, state and local withholding, unemployment filings). Handle time‑keeping system changes for new hires, terminations, rate and department changes, shift changes, and new shift setup. Oversee all PTO calculations and usage verification. Manage employee tax withholdings, direct deposits, and garnishments. Manage 401(k) funding requests, reconcile company matching, and file contribution reports. Calculate quarterly goal‑sharing bonuses and process year‑end management bonuses. Oversee monthly PR journal entries for G/L, benefits, PR/Benefits accrual, 401(k) match, vacation accrual, vacation bank accrual, and severance entries. Provide new manager time‑card training. Have Paycom and Epicor experience or the ability to learn payroll software quickly. Benefits, Wellness and Leave Administration Partner with the Director of HR Operations to develop multi‑year strategic benefit recommendations. Manage health, welfare and defined contribution plans, including open enrollment, renewals, communications, and wellness initiatives. Process eligibility, enrollment, life event and termination transactions in Paycom HRIS. Administer leave programs (parental, short/long‑term disability, FMLA, ADA) and ensure compliance with all applicable laws. Manage the wellness program and recommend updates to meet employee needs. Oversee daily/weekly 401(k) administration, reporting, audit processes, year‑end true‑up, and coordinate financial wellness sessions. Partner with brokers and third‑party administrators for compliance (5500 filings, FSA testing, ACA reporting, HIPAA notices). Collaborate with corporate functions to achieve key benefits objectives. Serve as the primary presenter for employee benefits programs and lead open enrollment meetings and workshops for large audiences. Review data analytics, market trends, and benefits surveys to maintain a competitive portfolio. Reconcile monthly billing statements from benefit vendors. Write and create communication pieces such as open enrollment guides and intranet content. Validate ACA 1094 and 1095‑C filings for accuracy. Lead annual projects such as 5500 filings, non‑discrimination testing, summary annual reports, and summary plan descriptions. Study new and existing legislation to maintain compliance. Collaborate with brokers, vendors and third‑party administrators. Partner with business unit HR teams on upcoming projects. What We’re Looking For Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of relevant experience in payroll, benefits, compliance, leave administration, taxes, and timekeeping. Strong knowledge of HR principles, payroll standards, and benefit administration. Exceptional public speaking and presentation skills to explain benefits and conduct employee meetings. Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities. Experience leading a team and coordinating with employees across the organization. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, professionalism and confidentiality. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel. Ability to operate with agility, composure and reliability in a dynamic shared services environment. Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills with ownership mindset. Schedule Monday – Thursday, 10 hours per day (fully‑onsite) with occasional work in Montville. Reports To Director, HR Operations Salary Range $130,000 – $140,000 per year Legal Information Many of our contracts require proof of U.S. citizenship or an export license for certain employees.
