As a key member of the Tesla AI hardware team, the AI/ML Compute Architect will drive the innovation and optimization of computing architectures tailored for artificial intelligence and machine learning applications. This role involves visionary hardware‑software co‑design, accelerator development, and distributed systems engineering to create efficient, scalable solutions that power cutting‑edge AI workloads. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with proven expertise in balancing performance, power, and scalability, delivering simple yet high‑impact implementations that accelerate Tesla's AI initiatives. What You’ll Do Feasibility Study: Review and optimize die floor plan, bump pattern. Perform fan‑out study. Estimate package layer count and package size. Design: Set up layer stack‑up, design constraints (Physical, Space and Electrical), optimize design based on design review and SI/PI simulation results. Review/validation: Conduct DRC/DFM checks based on design rules. Perform LVS check based on Verilog netlist and schematic. Documentation: Generate all required package design documentation for review and release. What You’ll Bring 5‑10 years of hands‑on experience on IC package substrate layout. Proficiency in Cadence APD+ and SiP Layout. Experience with fan‑out, BGA, bump optimization. Basic transmission line theory, signal and power integrity fundamentals. Package RLGC, s‑parameter, IL/RL, x‑talk extraction knowledge is a plus. Experience with 2.5D package, 3D‑IC, SoC to DDR/HBM memory connection on package is a plus. System capture, schematic‑driven design. Familiarity with Unix, Python, TCL, and package design automations. Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field, or equivalent experience. Proficiency in programming languages such as C/C++ and Python, with applications in hardware simulation, modeling, or system‑level software.
