Central Southern Construction is seeking a detail-oriented Civil Construction Estimator to support our growing heavy civil and sitework operations. This role is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates for civil infrastructure projects, including earthwork, utilities, grading, asphalt, concrete, and related scopes.Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare detailed cost estimates for heavy civil and sitework projects (public and private)Review plans, specifications, and bid documents to develop complete bid packagesPerform quantity takeoffs for earthwork, pipe, structures, paving, concrete, and materialsRequest and analyze subcontractor and supplier quotesDevelop pricing for labor, equipment, trucking, materials, and subcontracted scopesIdentify project risks, scope gaps, and constructability concernsCollaborate with project management and field operations to ensure accurate production rates and bid strategiesMaintain estimate files, bid logs, and supporting documentationSupport post-bid handoff and project start-up when awardedQualifications2+ years of estimating experience in heavy civil, sitework, underground utilities, paving, or DOT work (preferred)Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specs, and contractsStrong math skills and understanding of materials, labor, and equipment costsProficiency in Excel and estimating tools (e.g., HCSS HeavyBid, Bluebeam, Planswift, Agtek, Trimble, or similar)Strong communication and organization skillsAbility to manage multiple bids and tight deadlinesPreferred ExperienceDOT / municipal civil estimatingEarthwork takeoffs and production rate developmentUtility, storm, sanitary, and waterline estimatingAsphalt, concrete, and structural scopes
