The Senior Benefits Specialist is responsible for the administration, communication, and compliance of employee benefits programs, including health and welfare plans, and wellness initiatives. This role serves as a subject matter expert and strategic partner, ensuring that benefit offerings are competitive, cost-effective, and aligned with organizational goals.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Administer and manage employee benefits programs (medical, dental, vision, life, disability, FSA/HSA, etc.)
• Serve as the primary point of contact for benefits-related inquiries from employees, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
• Assist with annual open enrollment processes, including system testing, employee communications, and employee enrollment.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., ERISA, HIPAA, ACA, COBRA, FMLA).
• Benefit reporting to analyze data, monthly billing reconciliations, and verify accuracy of enrollment data with outside vendors
• Partner with payroll and HRIS teams to ensure accurate benefits deductions and data integrity.
• Support audits, filings, and reporting requirements (e.g., 5500s, ACA reporting).
• Assist in the development and delivery of employee education and wellness programs.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in related field is preferred
• 5+ years’ experience with administration of benefit programs
• Strong knowledge of benefits laws and regulations.

• Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with ability to communicate to various levels of employees and management.
• Solid analytical capabilities, decision making skills and ability to exercise appropriate judgement.
• Strong organization skills; ability to effectively prioritize workflow from multiple sources.
• Able to collaborate effectively with team and other departments as needed.
• Ability to multi-task, work with a sense of urgency and flex to the work style of others.
• High learning agility; strong initiative; self-starter with a positive attitude.
• Strong sense of integrity and ability to effectively manage and maintain confidentiality of information.
• Self-directed; accountable.
• Solid financial acumen; skills in MS Word and Excel required; proficiency with PowerPoint preferred.
• Experience with benefit administration platforms; working knowledge of Workday preferred.
