Direct Care Worker

Missouri Girls Town is seeking compassionate, dependable, and motivated Direct Care Workers to join our team. In this role, you’ll provide support, structure, encouragement, and positive guidance to youth who have experienced trauma.

Our Direct Care Workers are an important part of creating a safe, supportive, home-like environment where youth can learn, grow, build confidence, and develop skills for their future.

What You’ll Do

As a Direct Care Worker, you will:

• Provide a safe, structured, and supportive environment for youth.
• Build healthy, professional relationships while serving as a positive role model.
• Use trauma-informed approaches to help youth navigate emotions, behaviors, and challenges.
• Teach everyday life skills, including personal hygiene, chores, responsibility, meal preparation, and maintaining a home.
• Assist youth with homework and educational needs.
• Participate in recreational activities, therapeutic groups, and household routines.
• Support individual treatment plans and program goals.
• Observe and document client behaviors, emotions, progress, and concerns.
• Transport youth to appointments, court appearances, activities, and other approved destinations.
• Maintain accurate documentation and complete required records before the end of each shift.
• Work collaboratively with coworkers, leadership, clinical staff, and other members of the treatment team.
• Help maintain a clean, organized, welcoming home environment.
• Complete required training and follow Missouri Girls Town policies, procedures, therapeutic models, and behavior support practices.

What We’re Looking For

Successful candidates will be caring, patient, dependable, and able to provide both compassion and appropriate structure.

Minimum requirements include:

• Must be at least 21 years old .
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must be able to obtain a Missouri Class E Driver’s License before the end of the probationary period.
• Must successfully complete required background screenings, including the Family Care Safety Registry, and meet applicable eligibility requirements.
• Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position, including lifting up to 10 pounds.
• Must be able to successfully complete required medical certification.
• Must obtain CPR and First Aid certification before the end of the probationary period.
• Must successfully complete Handle with Care certification , including verbal de-escalation and required safe physical intervention/restraint techniques, before the end of the probationary period.
• Must demonstrate patience, compassion, professionalism, and appropriate boundaries when working with youth who have experienced trauma.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
• Reliable, punctual, and dependable.
• Ability to work independently while also functioning as part of a team.

Successful completion and continued certification in Handle with Care is a condition of employment for this position and must align with Missouri Girls Town’s Behavior Support Management Policy.

What the Work Looks Like

This isn’t a traditional job. You’ll be actively involved in the everyday lives of the youth we serve—helping with meals, homework, activities, household responsibilities, appointments, and the challenges and successes that come with daily life.

Direct Care Workers may work indoors and outdoors throughout the year and must be available to work assigned schedules that may include evenings, weekends, holidays, or hours outside normal business hours.

Benefits

Full-time employees are eligible for benefits after 90 days of full-time employment or open enrolment , in accordance with plan requirements and organizational policies.

Open Shifts:

2 p.m. to 10 p.m. with the following options for days off.  Sunday/Monday or Friday/Saturday or Tuesday/Wednesday

4 p.m. to 12 a.m. with the following days off Sunday/Monday
