This isn’t just a job, it’s a chance to lead innovation, engineer impact, and build a legacy of excellence.The Building Engineering Services (BES) group of MN/WI is looking for a Structural Engineer to join our growing team in Madison or Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This is a terrific opportunity for a mid-career engineer to tackle a new challenge and help build a team in a new office. You will lead work independently on a wide variety of projects across numerous market sectors including healthcare, civic, tech, commercial, water, and light industrial projects, many of which are in high-seismic areas. You will be mentored by experienced and talented structural engineers in the Twin Cities and across the country, and have the opportunity to mentor and develop earlier-career engineers. In the role of Structural Engineer, we'll count on you to:Collaborate with architects and other engineering discipline leads to develop designs and drive projects forward, working independently and/or leading small project teams and mentoring EIT’s.Independently coordinate the work of the structural design team through the design development and contract document phases of a projectEstablish meetings and participate in reviews with various governing agencies for code complianceConduct design development and contract document work sessions at project sites in conjunction with the Project Manager and other disciplinesTake responsibility for coordinating workload through design development and construction document phases to complete the documents on scheduleCoordinate and assist with affected disciplines, with any addendum, requests for information, change proposal requests and change orders, and incorporate agreed-upon changes into the project documents.Perform site visits and lead construction administration efforts.Write and edit structural specifications, select procedures, materials and their respective sizes, and complete necessary calculations.Review structural documents for areas of conflict with all disciplines and best practices/industry standards.Perform other duties as neededPreferred QualificationsMaster’s Degree in Structural Engineering or Architectural Engineering; Structural emphasis5-8 years of progressive structural engineering experience on projects of similar scale and complexity to HDR’s.Strong communication skills and emerging leadership aptitude with an entrepreneurial spirit.Structural Engineer (SE) License or qualification via NCEES exam to obtain SE in Illinois.#LI-NB1QualificationsRequired Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered. Example: Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license.
