Location 5150 Webster St,Dayton, OH, 45414-4228,United States Base Pay $30.00 / Hour Employee Type FT Exempt Job Description The Excavation Foreman is a leadership role responsible for overseeing excavation projects and managing a skilled team of operators and laborers. This position requires strong technical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to safety and quality. The Foreman ensures that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the specifications outlined in project plans. Duties/Responsibilities: Oversee daily excavation operations, ensuring work is performed efficiently and according to project plans and timelines. Ensure material and product is on time and delivered to the most efficient location. Work with equipment manager and dispatch to issue equipment delivered on-time. Lead and mentor a team of excavation Journeyman, operators and laborers, providing direction, training, and support to enhance skills and performance. Enforce safety protocols and regulations on-site, conducting regular safety meetings and inspections to minimize risks and ensure compliance. Coordinate the use and maintenance of excavation equipment, ensuring all machinery is in safe working order and properly operated. Act as the primary point of contact between project managers, clients, and crew members, facilitating clear communication and addressing any concerns or issues. Monitor work quality and adherence to specifications, making adjustments as necessary to meet project standards. Maintain accurate records of daily activities, project progress, and any incidents or changes to project scope. Must set a positive example in the areas of: Metcon’s Core Values, Metcon’s Mission & Vision and Metcon policies. Performs other duties as assigned. Required Skills/Abilities: Minimum of 5 years of experience in excavation or heavy construction, with at least 2 years in a Journeyman or leadership role. Relevant certifications (e.g., OSHA, heavy equipment operation) preferred. Strong leadership abilities with experience in team management and conflict resolution. In-depth understanding of excavation techniques, equipment operation, and safety practices. Ability to identify issues and implement effective solutions quickly and efficiently. Excellent verbal and written communication skills to liaise with team members and stakeholders. Ability to follow instructions precisely and maintain high standards of work quality. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address challenges that arise on-site. Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent qualification Two years in a journeyman type position. Physical Requirements: Capable of performing physically demanding tasks and working in various weather conditions.
