Project Accountant

Steadfast Executive Search LLC is partnering with a well-established construction organization in the Orlando market to identify a Project Accountant . Hybrid Winter Park, Florida This position works closely with Project Managers, accounting leadership, subcontractors, and vendors and offers the opportunity to support multi-million-dollar commercial construction projects within a stable, long-standing organization known for strong employee tenure and long-term stability. The role provides hands‑on exposure to the full project accounting lifecycle and the opportunity to take ownership of assigned projects from setup through closeout. Key Responsibilities This role is responsible for supporting the full project accounting lifecycle for assigned construction projects, including job costing, construction payables, subcontractor payment applications, material invoices, committed costs, and ongoing project accounting activities. The Project Accountant will work closely with Project Managers to support project setup, cost coding, job-cost review, project reporting, and subcontractor/vendor compliance. The position will also help ensure required documentation and payment criteria are satisfied, maintain communication with subcontractors and vendors, and ultimately take ownership of assigned projects from setup through closeout. Qualifications Minimum of 2+ years of construction accounting, project accounting, or job-cost accounting experience Commercial General Contractor experience is preferred; subcontractor or specialty contractor highly preferred Experience supporting construction payables, subcontractor payment applications, job costing, committed costs, and project-related accounting activities Knowledge of Florida Lien Law and construction compliance requirements preferred Strong attention to detail and overall accounting accuracy Strong organizational, communication, and problem‑solving skills Ability to work effectively with Project Managers, subcontractors, vendors, and accounting leadership Experience working within construction accounting or project management systems preferred; Vista by Viewpoint, ProjectSight, PVault/Paperless, Textura, Sage 300 CRE, Foundation, CMiC, Jonas, Procore, or similar systems Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft 365 required Ability to learn new processes quickly, retain information, and independently apply training Strong reliability, accountability, follow‑through, and ability to operate effectively within a collaborative team environment Compensation & Benefits Competitive compensation based on overall experience and alignment Non‑exempt/hourly structure with overtime eligibility Bonus potential based on company and individual performance Employee ownership opportunity through an ESOP 401(k) with potential discretionary company match Comprehensive benefits package including paid vacation, sick time, medical, dental, HRA/FSA, employer‑paid life insurance, and long‑term disability Paid holidays and paid volunteer time One work‑from‑home day per week following successful onboarding and approval Strong training and professional development opportunities Excellent work‑life balance with an emphasis on maintaining a standard 40‑hour workweek Long‑term stability within an established organization known for strong employee tenure About Us Steadfast Executive Search LLC is a boutique search firm specializing in direct‑hire accounting, finance, and operational leadership recruitment across the construction, manufacturing, and project‑based services industries .
