Make a positive impact supporting elementary students as an onsite Sign Language Interpreter in a dynamic educational environment. This contract opportunity near Lincoln, NE, spans the academic year and offers flexible scheduling for those available full-time (7:45am–3:15pm) or afternoons only (11:00am–3:15pm). You'll work closely with young learners and staff to foster inclusive communication and enable access to an enriching classroom experience.

Qualifications:

• Valid certification or license for sign language interpreting; provisional license considered for those with EIPA below 4.0
• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL), with experience interpreting in educational settings, especially at the elementary level
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with students and colleagues
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism at all times
• Positive approach and adaptability to meet the needs of various students throughout the school day

Key Responsibilities:

• Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and activities from spoken English to ASL and vice versa for students who are Deaf or hard of hearing
• Work alongside teachers, support staff, and administrators to ensure accessibility and support student learning goals
• Foster an inclusive, supportive atmosphere that encourages student participation and empowerment
• Adapt interpreting approach according to the activity or specific student needs throughout the school day
• Support communication during school meetings, parent conferences, and extracurricular activities as needed
