Correctional Case Manager

Position Title Correctional Case Manager (S) Agency Adult Correction Division COO - OPS – Institutions Operations Position Number 65013304 Grade NC07 Overview The NC Department of Adult Correction protects and preserves lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation. This role is part of the Division of Institutions, which manages daily operations of state‑operated prison facilities across North Carolina. Responsibilities Conduct initial assessments of offender needs and develop case plans. Monitor compliance and results, revising plans as appropriate. Assess offender behavior and develop counseling strategies to achieve desired progress. Answer offender questions, provide information about classification and sentencing status, and correspond with offender families. Organize and direct rehabilitation programs for offenders. Investigate work release and home leave, coordinate community resources, and plan transition (re‑entry) prior to parole or release. Make recommendations to offender classification committees on program involvement or custody level changes. Serve in all sections of Close, Medium, and Minimum Custody prison facilities, maintaining constant contact with offenders. Work in a custody role during certain activities and may be required to work evenings, weekends, or holidays. Qualifications Must meet Criminal Justice Standards requirements (12 NCAC 09G .0302). Pass a criminal background check. Produce a negative drug screening result. Successfully complete medical and psychological evaluations. Possess a valid driver’s license. Preferred knowledge of supportive counseling techniques and/or interviewing techniques for intake assessments.
