Job Title: CNC Machinist Job Description

The CNC Machinist sets up, programs, and supports CNC and manual machining operations while ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency on the shop floor. This role works closely with engineering and production teams to design fixtures, improve processes, manage tooling, and maintain inventory of materials and finished products.

• Ensure strict compliance with safety regulations and maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area.
• Program and set up multiple CNC lathes for machine operators, including designing fixtures and selecting appropriate tooling in collaboration with engineers.
• Operate and support both manual lathes and mills to produce parts that meet required specifications.
• Conduct thorough quality inspections using precision measuring instruments such as calipers to verify dimensions and tolerances.
• Collaborate closely with engineering teams to improve machining processes and implement new tooling solutions that enhance productivity and quality.
• Manage inventory levels of raw materials and finished products, ensuring accurate tracking and proper packaging for shipment.
• Work with OEMs and suppliers to identify, select, and purchase appropriate tooling and related equipment.
• Troubleshoot machining and production issues promptly to minimize downtime and maintain consistent output.
• Optimize toolpaths to maximize tool life, improve cycle times, and increase overall productivity.
• Provide clear communication and leadership on the shop floor to support operators and coordinate daily machining activities.

• Proven experience as a CNC machinist, including hands-on programming and setup responsibilities.
• Proficiency in operating both manual lathes and mills in a production environment.
• Strong knowledge of tooling practices, cutting parameters, and tool selection for various materials and operations.
• Ability to use precision measuring instruments such as calipers and other measuring tools to perform accurate inspections.
• Experience with troubleshooting machining issues and resolving production problems efficiently.
• Familiarity with CAD/CAM programming and CAD/CAM software for creating and modifying machining programs.
• Working knowledge of CNC lathe and mill operations, including setup and adjustment.
• Excellent leadership abilities with strong communication skills to coordinate work and support team members.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high attention to detail and quality.
• Experience working with OEMs and suppliers to identify and purchase correct tooling and equipment.

• Experience programming Mazatrol T Plus CNC controllers.
• Experience programming Mazatrol SmoothG CNC controllers.
• Experience optimizing toolpaths for maximum tool life and productivity.
• Experience operating overhead cranes, forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material-moving equipment.
• Comfort using a variety of measuring tools and inspection equipment beyond calipers.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a continuous improvement mindset.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, production, and supply chain teams.

This position operates in a machining and manufacturing environment on a day shift schedule of 10-hour shifts, Monday through Friday, with weekends as needed based on production demands. The work involves regular use of CNC lathes and mills, manual machines, precision measuring tools, and material-handling equipment such as overhead cranes, forklifts, and pallet jacks. The facility focuses on maintaining a clean, organized, and safety-conscious workspace, with employees expected to follow all safety procedures and wear appropriate industrial work attire and personal protective equipment.

This is a Permanent position based out of Dothan, AL.

The pay range for this position is $41600.00 - $62400.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
