PT Workforce Training and Community Program Instructor

Summary This position is to create a pool of part time Workforce Training & Community Program Instructors. Example of classes include but are not limited to: Arts & Crafts Automotive Safety/OBD Emissions Inspection Cooking classes Dance classes Electrical Wiring Foreign Languages Motorcycle Safety Music classes Photography Plumbing ServSafe Workforce Training & Community Program Instructors will instruct classes associated with career/employability skill development and personal enrichment/community related classes in their field of experience. The instructor will be responsible for providing classroom instruction; evaluating student performance and maintaining accurate documentation as required. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Provide instruction and conduct activities to achieve learning outcomes. Complete forms pertaining to registration and attendance records. Prepare lesson plans, course overviews and course syllabi. Select appropriate learning material for assigned classes. Supervisory Responsibilities This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Equivalent to the needs of the class of instruction. Experience Minimum One (1) to Three (3) years of relevant experience in the field of the related class. Language Skills Ability to read and comprehend written material. Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal skills. Ability to properly write and format correspondence. Mathematical Skills Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished written and orally. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Computer Skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Access and Excel) and aptitude to learn new systems as needed. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Equivalent to the needs of the class of instruction. The average noise level in the work environment is typical of a community college setting with various classes taking place simultaneously, but can depend on specific events scheduled and the nature of the class. Johnston Community College typically operates on a Monday – Thursday schedule from 7:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and on Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. In addition, from mid-May – early August, the College operates on a forty-hour work week from Monday – Thursday, with the College closed on Fridays. Workforce Training & Community Programs Instructor schedules will depend on the class schedule.
