IT Specialist

This position is located in the Small Business Administration, Office of the Chief Information Officer in Chicago, IL. The primary purpose of this position is to serve as an Information Technology (IT) Data Management Engineer responsible for leading the planning, development, implementation, and administration of complex IT systems for the acquisition, storage, integration, transformation, analysis, sharing, and retrieval of data across the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). MINIMUM QUALICATIONS: To be considered minimally qualified for this position, you must show that you have the required IT-related experience for the grade level to which you are applying: GS-14 Required Competencies: Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. AND Specialized Experience: GS-14 - One cumulative year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 obtained in either the private or public sector related to each of the responsibilities below: Utilizing Structures Query Language (SQL) to accomplish tasks, such as developing and refining SQL queries to facilitate efficient data extraction, transformation, and loading processes. Coordinating data engineering work, such as coordinating requirements gathering and resource planning through implementation, testing, and sustainment using technologies such as SQL, Python, R, Power BI, Tableau, or AWS/Azure analytics services. Running data management projects end to end, such as planning and delivering projects: creating a timeline, tracking risks, coordinating with teammates, or keeping work moving. Explaining technical ideas, such as sharing updates and trade-offs with different audiences(e.g., data analysts, vendors, and senior leaders) through briefings, reports, or documentation. Solving problems with secure, scalable solutions, such as diagnosing issues (E.g., bugs, performance, integration), improving reliability, or building with security in mind (e.g., authentication/authorization, data protection) so systems can handle growth.
