About The Role We are seeking a highly skilled Software (Technical) Support Engineer to join our team in Dresden, Germany. In this role, you will be instrumental in supporting our PDC-based inspection tools, ensuring optimal performance and customer satisfaction. You will serve as a technical expert, troubleshooting complex software issues, assisting with software installation and validation, and providing comprehensive training to our customers and internal teams. The role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving, excellent communication skills, and a passion for delivering exceptional customer service. Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess a degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation, or a related field. A minimum of 2-4 years of professional experience in software testing, documentation, network technology, or related areas is preferred. Strong communication skills in English are essential, with proficiency in German considered an advantage. Candidates should demonstrate excellent analytical and organizational skills, with the ability to explain complex technical information clearly and effectively. A team-oriented mindset and willingness to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams are crucial. Additionally, the candidate should be open to travel within Europe and to the US headquarters, up to 50%, to support customer needs and participate in training sessions. Responsibilities Analyze reported software issues and validate solutions by conducting thorough troubleshooting to identify root causes, particularly in Microsoft Server environments, network topology, and applications. Install, configure, and image software on Early Learning Shipments (ELS), New Product Introductions (NPI), and First In Fab tools (FIF). Document procedures and perform initial installations on High Volume Manufacturing tools (HVM), developing and delivering training on software procedures. Develop and execute comprehensive test plans, including customer-specific test scenarios, to validate software releases. Construct simulators for testing and troubleshooting, ensuring software quality and reliability. Create, test, and verify installation and upgrade instructions for Applied Materials' product releases, ensuring clarity and ease of implementation. Research, investigate, and resolve internal and external application and system issues, including high-value customer problems, bugs, or systemic software failures. Engage with customers to foster trust in Applied Materials’ software solutions, providing consultation on Factory Automation scenarios and resolving operational questions related to tools and settings. Provide ongoing technical training and support to customers and customer engineers, enhancing their understanding and effective use of our systems. Assist in analyzing customer operating system performance, integration, and database management issues, delivering detailed updates and reports to internal teams and stakeholders.
