Steel Fabricator

We are currently hiring a Steel Fabrication Machine Operator for a high-volume structural steel facility located in Tampa, FL. This role focuses on the operation and oversight of robust industrial machinery designed for the processing and fabrication of large-scale steel components. Please note that this is not a standard CNC machining role. We are specifically seeking individuals with a background in heavy fabrication, steel processing, forming, cutting, or similar industrial equipment. We encourage those with hands‑on experience using beam lines, burn tables, plasma tables, plate rolls, steel processing tools, forklifts, overhead cranes, or other heavy‑duty industrial machinery to apply. Core Responsibilities Manage large industrial systems utilized for fabricating and processing structural steel. Configure and load raw materials in alignment with work orders, cut sheets, and production specifications. Oversee the performance of semi‑automated and automated fabrication systems throughout the production run. Verify that finished components meet all dimensional and quality standards through thorough inspection. Interpret and apply information from shop drawings, cut sheets, and basic blueprints. Adjust machine settings as necessary to ensure optimal production accuracy and quality. Ensure the safe movement and positioning of heavy steel materials using forklifts, overhead cranes, or other handling gear. Conduct routine equipment checks to detect performance issues or abnormal operating states. Maintain a tidy and well‑organized workspace. Uphold all safety protocols, including material handling, lockout/tagout, and proper PPE usage to foster a secure environment for the entire team. Collaborate effectively with fitters, welders, and supervisors to ensure seamless production workflows. Achieve production targets while maintaining a steadfast commitment to quality and safety standards. Equipment & Materials Operators will utilize a variety of tools based on their specific assignment and experience level: CNC burn tables Flame‑cutting and plasma equipment Plate processing machinery Plate rolls Structural steel fabrication systems Automated cutting technology Overhead cranes Forklifts Structural steel components and large steel plates Qualifications Demonstrated experience operating industrial equipment within a steel, fabrication, or manufacturing setting. Prior work history involving heavy plate or structural steel fabrication is highly valued. Proven ability to interpret measurements, work instructions, and cut sheets. Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to master machine controls and operational procedures. Capability to perform essential quality measurements and inspections. Ability to safely maneuver and work in proximity to heavy materials. Experience with forklifts or overhead cranes is considered a significant advantage. Ability to work autonomously while contributing to the overall success of the production team. Reliable attendance and a keen eye for detail are vital. Comfortable working within a demanding heavy industrial shop environment.
