Medical Assistant (MA)

Pay Rate: $24/hour
Location:  Allegan, MI
Duration: 15 Weeks
Shift: 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Medical Assistant (MA) to support both front-office and back-office clinical operations. The Medical Assistant will assist providers and clinical staff with patient care, administrative activities, clinical procedures, documentation, and daily workflow coordination.

The ideal candidate will have recent hands-on experience with phlebotomy/venipuncture, EMR systems, patient rooming, vital signs, scheduling, and clinical support .

Key Responsibilities

• Support front-office and back-office operations to ensure efficient daily clinical workflows.
• Greet, register, and room patients.
• Prepare examination rooms for patient visits.
• Obtain and accurately document patient vital signs.
• Perform phlebotomy and venipuncture procedures as required.
• Administer vaccines according to established clinical protocols.
• Perform EKG testing and Point-of-Care (POC) testing as needed.
• Schedule patient appointments and manage incoming telephone calls.
• Assist providers and clinical staff with patient care and other clinical support activities.
• Maintain accurate patient information and documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
• Maintain examination rooms and ensure necessary medical supplies are available.
• Provide excellent patient service and communicate effectively with patients and healthcare staff.
• Collaborate with providers, nurses, medical assistants, and other center staff to support quality patient care.
• Support health education and patient outreach initiatives focused on health and wellness.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient clinical environment.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of Medical Assistant experience , excluding externship experience.
• Medical Assistant certification strongly preferred.
• Recent hands-on phlebotomy/venipuncture experience required .
• Experience working with an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system required.
• Front-office and back-office medical experience.
• Experience with patient scheduling and appointment coordination.
• Experience rooming patients and obtaining/documenting vital signs.
• Current BLS or CPR certification required .
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and computer skills.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with providers, nurses, medical assistants, and other healthcare professionals.
• Interest in health education, patient outreach, and improving patient care.

Preferred Qualifications

• Recent EKG testing experience.
• Recent Point-of-Care (POC) testing experience.
• Experience with Athena-EMR .
• Experience supporting health education and community/patient outreach programs.
