Degreed Nutritionist - WIC Program - Full Time/Days - REQ#2117967242

Job Objective The Degreed Nutritionist is responsible for providing counseling and nutrition education for high‑risk WIC participants. The role includes enrollments, re‑certifications, mid‑certifications, trimester checks, and the prescription and issuance of food instruments for WIC participants. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Conduct nutrition assessments for WIC participants. Evaluate height, weight, laboratory values, and nutrition questionnaire data. Identify and prioritize nutrition risks. Collaborate with a Registered Dietitian to develop care plans. Provide nutrition education and counseling, including breast‑feeding encouragement for pregnant participants. Apply motivational interviewing techniques and involve participants in shared decision‑making. Deliver focused counseling in a timely manner. Distribute appropriate educational pamphlets and referrals. Facilitate or conduct group education classes. Attend agency meetings and travel to alternate clinics as required. Enter all data, labs, and demographic information accurately into ISIS. Document enrollment, re‑certification, trimester, and mid‑certification notes in the INEP screen, linking them to the relevant nutrition risk and follow‑up plan. Record breastfeeding support notes for all pregnant participants. Document education contacts on the Nutrition Education screen for each participant. Place HOLDS for required documentation such as blood tests, immunization records, medical forms, address, and income verification. Ensure all required documents are signed by the participant. Maintain ISIS competency by completing enrollments, certifications, trimester checks, and disqualifications according to WIC program guidelines. Prescribe the correct food package and schedule the appropriate clinic appointment. Non‑Essential Duties Safety officer responsibilities. Manage food instrument orders. Education and Experience Education Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Food Nutrition, Dietetics, or a related field. Must meet the education requirements specified in the California WIC Program Manual (WPM 130‑50). Experience Preferred: 1 year of experience in a community nutrition program. Licensure and Certifications California driver’s license and current car insurance. BS‑Degreed Nutritionist: 50 continuing education units every 5 years. MS‑Degreed Nutritionist: 75 continuing education units every 5 years. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions Must be able to stand and walk for most of the day.
