Ocean Import Specialist

Ocean Import Specialist | Roselle, Illinois | Hybrid Schedule | Up to $65,000 To manage international ocean import shipments from origin through final delivery while ensuring compliance with U.S. Customs regulations, carrier requirements, and customer expectations. The candidate will have prior experience in ocean import operations within freight forwarding along with strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Competitive salary up to $65,000, based on experience Health, dental, and vision insurance Paid time off and company holidays 401(k) with company match Career advancement opportunities within a global logistics organization Key Responsibilities Coordinate and oversee full-cycle ocean import shipments from booking through final delivery Communicate with overseas agents, steamship lines, truckers, warehouses, customs brokers, and customers regarding shipment status and required documentation Prepare and process import documentation, including arrival notices, bills of lading, delivery orders, and invoices Track and trace shipments to ensure timely cargo movement and delivery Monitor shipment milestones and proactively resolve delays, discrepancies, and service issues Ensure compliance with U.S. Customs regulations, FMC requirements, and internal company procedures Arrange inland transportation and delivery appointments as needed Review and verify carrier and vendor invoices for billing accuracy Maintain accurate shipment records within the company operating system Deliver exceptional customer service through timely updates and issue resolution Assist accounting with invoicing, payables, and shipment reconciliation Collaborate cross-functionally with customs brokerage, accounting, warehousing, and sales teams Qualifications 2+ years of ocean import experience within freight forwarding, logistics, or NVOCC operations preferred Strong understanding of international shipping documentation and import procedures Familiarity with U.S. Customs regulations and import compliance requirements Experience coordinating with ocean carriers, CFS stations, and drayage providers Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple shipments simultaneously Strong communication and customer service abilities Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and transportation management systems; CargoWise experience preferred #J-18808-Ljbffr People Freight | Freight Forwarding & Logistics Recruitment Specialists
