Job description:
The major responsibility of this position is to operate a molecular diagnostic laboratory for the molecular analysis of human specimens received from physician offices, residential detox facilities and counseling centers around the country.

Duties/Responsibilities:
• Testing must be completed in compliance with the policies and procedures of the College of American, New York State and other accreditation organizations.
• Perform PCR, hybridization, and genetic sequencing methods.
• Evaluate results to determine interference, inhibition, or other problems that arise during extraction, amplification, or sequencing of DNA.
• Perform quality control, validation, and other quality activities to verify performance of clinical assays.
• Maintain equipment by performing assigned maintenance activities and troubleshoot unexpected problems with equipment.
• The work requires familiarity with laboratory information systems (LIS), quality control procedures, troubleshooting problems, documentation of actions taken to correct problems, adhering to strict turnaround time standards, and maintenance of patient confidentiality.

Requirements:
• Knowledge of molecular assay development, assay validation, quantitative analysis, and correlation studies
• Minimum qualification is a BS in Chemistry, Biology, Medical Technology or a closely related field. MS or PhD preferred
• ASCP Certification or an equivalent organization is preferred

Schedule:
• Full Time; Monday - Friday
• 8:00AM - 5:00PM
• There will be some weekend and holiday rotation

Compensation:
• Hourly rate competitive with experience and location
