Position Details & Requirements

As the Manager, Fleet Operations, you will lead the team and processes responsible for coordinating Sunstate's fleet activity behind the scenes. You will oversee a team of three Fleet Coordinators and provide operational leadership across equipment transfers, procurement administration, supplier delivery timing, fleet documentation, used equipment support, vehicle management, and field logistics. You will also help develop the reporting, procedures, and fleet playbook needed to support consistent execution across the organization.

What You'll Do

• Lead, coach, prioritize, and develop a team of approximately three Fleet Coordinators supporting enterprise fleet operations.
• Oversee the movement and repositioning of rental equipment from market to market based on business needs, fleet strategy, utilization, and customer demand.
• Provide oversight and strategy to maximize load efficiency and improve the cost-effective movement of equipment throughout the network.
• Coordinate closely with field operations and logistics teams to support fleet transfers, deployment plans, and equipment availability across multiple locations.
• Manage fleet procurement workflows, including the issuance and administration of purchase orders to equipment suppliers.
• Work directly with manufacturers and suppliers to track purchased equipment, delivery schedules, expected arrival dates, delays, and changes to ETAs.
• Communicate material supplier, delivery, and fleet timing changes to internal stakeholders so field teams can plan appropriately.
• Ensure newly received equipment is documented accurately, assigned unit numbers, and entered into the appropriate fleet processes and systems.
• Assign and balance work across Fleet Coordinators as equipment is purchased, received, transferred, sold, or otherwise moved through the fleet lifecycle.
• Partner with used equipment sales and vehicle management functions on fleet disposition, asset movement, documentation, and related operational requirements.
• Maintain accurate fleet records and establish controls that support data integrity, equipment visibility, and timely decision-making.
• Use advanced Excel skills to build, maintain, and improve fleet reports, tracking tools, dashboards, and operational analyses.
• Partner with IT and Business Intelligence teams to improve fleet reporting, data visibility, system functionality, and scalable decision-support tools.
• Develop, document, implement, and maintain fleet Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the field and corporate teams.
• Provide clear updates, reporting, and recommendations to leadership regarding fleet movement, procurement, supplier performance, process risks, and operational priorities.
• Promote Sunstate's safety culture and ensure fleet processes support safe, compliant, and responsible equipment operations.
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

What We're Looking For

• 3+ years of management or supervisory experience with demonstrated success leading, coaching, and prioritizing the work of a team.
• Fleet operations, logistics, equipment rental, construction equipment, transportation, procurement, or related operational experience.
• Logistics background with experience coordinating the movement of equipment, vehicles, or other high-value assets across multiple locations or markets.
• Working knowledge of rental and/or construction equipment such as compressors, excavators, forklifts, aerial equipment, and other heavy or light construction assets is strongly preferred.
• Experience with purchasing and procurement processes, including purchase orders, supplier coordination, delivery schedules, and ETA management.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and the ability to organize, analyze, reconcile, and communicate complex fleet and operational data.
• Experience partnering with IT, analytics, or Business Intelligence teams to improve reporting, dashboards, data quality, or operational visibility.
• Excellent organizational, prioritization, and project-management skills; able to manage multiple deadlines, equipment movements, supplier commitments, and stakeholder needs simultaneously.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate changes, risks, timing, and expectations clearly across corporate and field teams.
• Customer-service mindset, high attention to detail, and a commitment to accurate and timely execution.
• Self-motivated, adaptable, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment where priorities may shift based on fleet demand and business needs.
• Ability to travel periodically to branch, field, supplier, or other Sunstate locations as business needs require.
