Instructional Coach
The Instructional Coach will serve as an instructional leader who works closely with the school principal, teachers, and district leaders to manage, support, and guide faculty in a way that strengthens student growth and development. The Instructional Coach will provide support in the areas of curriculum, instruction, formative assessment, classroom management, and professional learning. The Instructional Coach will work with teachers and build relationships to help create a positive and supportive learning community.
Qualifications
License: Required: Professional Educator License Preferred: Illinois General Administrative endorsement Education: Required Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field. Preferred Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Leadership, or related field Experience: Required Minimum of five years of successful teaching experience Preferred Experience working as an instructional coach or school administrator
Essential Performance Responsibilities
Maintain familiarity with current educational research and trends through ongoing professional development Ensure alignment exists between instructional planning and assessments in the classroom Model lessons in classrooms on an ongoing basis or as needed Support the professional development of all teachers in understanding the CCSS-aligned curriculum, varied assessments, effective instructional practices, and data analysis Build strong collaborative relationships with teachers, administrators, other coaches, and district partners Represent, champion, and spread awareness of the North Chicago SD 187 mission, core values, and strategic goals Provide guidance and support to collaborative teams within the schools Assist teachers with resources, materials, tools, information, etc., to support classroom planning and instruction Responsible and equitable stewardship, management, and distribution of instructional resources Provide professional development on instructional and classroom environment resources and strategies Implement a data-driven, results-oriented, and evidence-based approach to coaching Facilitate conversations among teachers that result in a common understanding of performance standards and benchmarks Support teachers and administrators in using data to improve instruction on all levels Assist teachers with the planning and pacing of lessons, the development of differentiated lessons, and the selection of best practices to meet the needs of their students Informally observe (non-evaluative) lessons and provide feedback for a teacher's professional growth and students' success Develop staff knowledge, skills, mindset, and behaviors through a variety of professional development on targeted topics and designs Develop coaching plans for teachers to ensure student improvement Contribute to the development of systems and structures to improve teacher practice within schools Be a positive contributor to the climate and culture of the school Provide job-embedded informal professional learning beyond the coaching responsibility Submit a weekly coaching log and any pertinent data requests/coaching documentation as required Complete any other duties as assigned

Physical Demands
Manual Dexterity: Work requires definite skilled and accurate physical operations requiring some closely coordinated performance. Physical Effort: Work required handling average weight materials or equipment, but not for sustained periods. Working Conditions: The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 60% sitting, 20% walking, and 20% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.
Terms of Employment
Exempt, full-time, 12-month position; this position is not part of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Salary Range: Commensurate with education and experience, including benefits package. Salary Band IV: $65,000-$110,000 Evaluation: Annual
