Director of Resource Development & Engagement

Jewish Community Services of South Florida (JCS) is seeking a Director of Resource Development and Engagement to build philanthropic support for the agency and engage key stakeholders. The Director will identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward prospects and donors capable of making gifts in the $1,000–$25,000 range, oversee the redesign and implementation of annual solicitation plans, grow affinity group membership, and develop relationships leading to major gifts, annual giving, planned giving, and foundation gifts. Responsibilities Fundraising and Prospect Management Fundraise and lead a team of fundraisers to achieve development goals. Collaborate with the Chief Development Officer and program leaders to define and prioritize funding needs and develop aligned proposals. Manage a portfolio of approximately 150 donors and prospects, cultivating relationships and soliciting contributions between $1,000 and $50,000. Achieve an annual fundraising goal of $500,000+ from major‑gift and annual‑fund donors through at least 100 personal contacts annually. Create and implement data‑driven annual‑fund strategies, identifying new donor prospects and increasing support from recurring donors and affinity groups. Maintain accurate donor records and engagement strategies using Raiser's Edge NXT. Affinity Groups Volunteer Engagement Oversee affinity‑group initiatives, serving as the primary contact for committees and volunteers. Develop agendas, prepare briefings, and support affinity groups in outreach and fundraising efforts. Recruit, onboard, and engage new affinity‑group members and volunteers. Stewardship and Events Develop and implement programs to deepen donor engagement and foster long‑term investment in JCS initiatives. Plan and coordinate major fundraising and stewardship events, including dedications and recognition programs. Build meaningful relationships with donors to keep them informed about the impact of their contributions. Supervision Provide oversight to the team in the Chief Development Officer’s absence or as delegated. Oversee operations and supervision of team members. Represent Jewish Community Services in the community and comport oneself appropriately. Work full‑time and may include evenings, weekends, or early mornings. Actively participate in key JCS events, including Milk and Honey, Matzah Mitzvah, Annual Meetings, board and committee meetings, budget and legislative hearings, and other priority management level activities. Undergo a level II background screening through the DCF Clearinghouse ( Perks Competitive benefits package including medical and dental plans. Generous vacation and holiday pay. 401(k) match. Monthly in‑service training and CEU opportunities. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree, required. Minimum of three (3) years of demonstrated success in a fundraising or development role, preferably in social services or healthcare. Experience with fundraising/donor databases, preferably Raiser's Edge. Proven ability to secure gifts from corporations, foundations, and individuals. Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to create compelling proposals and donor correspondence. Exceptional relationship‑management skills with the ability to connect meaningfully with diverse stakeholders. Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and adept at managing multiple priorities. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams). Familiarity with South Florida’s philanthropic community. CFRE certification is a plus.
