Job Description and Duties

Under the general direction of the Director, Office of Equity, the CEA A - Foster Care Ombudsperson (Ombudsperson) is the highest level independent advocate in the California Department of Social Services for the safety of children in foster care. The Ombusdperson is responsible for developing strategic goals, policy, planning, organizing, directing,implementing, and evaluating the activities of the Office of the Foster Care Ombudsperson (OFCO) that address urgent and systemic issues within the public child welfare system. The OFCO has statewide, multi-departmental, inter-governmental, and public impact. The minimum statutory responsibilities of the OFCO are listed in California Welfare and Institutions Code Section 16164 (a).

This position requires statewide travel as needed.
