The Essential Duties for a Transportation Specialist II, III & IV Include: Evaluates and analyzes highly complex design issues. Assists in overseeing design work among TxDOT entities, consultants and contractors. Assists in overseeing project design involving design calculations and sketches of plans, layouts and typical sections. Assists in planning, developing, administering and monitoring district maintenance contracts and service agreements. Assists in prioritizing and scheduling projects. Coordinates communication between district/division/Department of Public Safety and other external entities. Coordinates compilation of complete plan packages for submission to the responsible engineer for review and signature. Coordinates with staff and area engineers regarding construction operations as they relate to contract administration, programming, planning, design, right-of-way and maintenance operations. Reviews and oversees plan packages submitted by consultants. Serves as technical member on transportation-related projects. Performs other job responsibilities as assigned. This position requires you to drive for TxDOT Minimum Qualifications for Transportation Specialist II, III & IV: Education: Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline. Relevant experience may be substituted for education on a year per year basis. Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications Experience: Transportation Specialist II: 4 YEARS transportation design, construction, traffic operations, maintenance, bridge inspection experience. (Experience can be satisfied by full-time or prorated part-time equivalent). Transportation Specialist III & IV: 5 YEARS transportation design, construction, traffic operations, maintenance, bridge inspection experience. (Experience can be satisfied by full-time or prorated part-time equivalent). Licenses and Certifications: Valid driver’s license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.
