About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Neuro Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hour Days Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: Level 1 Trauma Experience Description: MUST HAVE LEVEL 1 TRAUMA EXPERIENCE. Candidates must be within a 50-mile radius; no local rate. Client conducts pre-screens, and clinical recommendations will be sent for managerial approval. There will be no second interviews. Travelers must pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to acceptance, with two attempts allowed. Failure to pass will result in disqualification from the program. Travel teams must have their own vehicles. Only natural hair colors are permitted, and there should be no facial piercings. Men must be clean-shaven for the fit test. There will be a pass/fail exam on the first day of orientation. All RNs will be expected to complete skills lab training. Compulsory skills include Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes, except for specified units. The hospital expects strong competency in maintaining sterile fields. If a candidate is not competent in these areas, they may not be a good fit. In addition, all travelers will go through training on lifts, restraints, and wound care. Must be able to titrate drips, including Amiodarone, Cardizem, and Insulin. Unit features: 32 beds, with a patient-nurse ratio of 1:4. Common diagnoses include tracheostomy patients, cerebrovascular accidents, traumatic brain injury, spinal surgery, encephalopathy, end-stage renal disease, psychiatric issues, and brain tumors. Average length of stay is 4-5 days. This unit operates in a fast-paced environment with high turnover. Bedside report is standard practice. The hospital can cancel up to four shifts throughout a 13-week assignment, with specific rules for shorter assignments. The charting system in use is electronic. Floating to other telemetry units is required. Shift duration is from 7 AM to 7 PM. Weekend and holiday rotation is included in the job requirements. Required certifications include BLS and ACLS.
