Assistant Nurse Manager

The Assistant Nurse Manager is responsible for the performance and oversight of clinical patient care for nursing and medical assistants. The Assistant Nurse Manager works in collaboration with the Nurse Manager for the population health management of clinic patient panel using data to improve clinical care workflows that lead to improvement of the quality of patient care and enhance cost effectiveness. The Assistant Nurse Manager will also support staff education, onboarding, and training of new hires. The Assistant Nurse Manager is a member of the management team and may be assigned clinical responsibility for one or more units. The RN practices professional nursing as defined by the Texas Board of Nursing, Texas Nurse Practice Act and by adhering to organizational policies, procedures, and guidelines. Responsibilities

Essential duties include collaborating with the patient's care team to optimize clinical outcomes, performing Nurse Manager duties in absence of NM, supervising assigned staff, monitoring health center equipment needs, infection control standards, CLIA and Radiology regulations, compliance with Standing Delegation Orders, and emergency protocols. The Assistant Nurse Manager also monitors the compliance with standards of care for on?site treatments and procedures, administration of medications, as well as timely and quality clinical workflows. Additionally, the Assistant Nurse Manager enhances the patient experience by addressing and resolving patient issues in a timely manner, ensures that daily patient care (unit) huddles are being conducted, and participates in the hiring process for new staff members by conducting interviews and making hiring recommendations to the clinical/non-clinical leader. The Assistant Nurse Manager also acts as a resource to Medical Assistants, and other clinical team members, responds to all clinic codes, adheres to the Texas Board of Nursing and Texas Nurse Practice Act requirements and to other governing agency regulations, assists in the development of departmental protocols, policies, and procedures, participates in continuous quality improvement projects, maintains awareness of key performance indicators/metrics and coordinating interventions to improve patient outcomes, coordinates and attends staff meetings and education offerings both in person and via teleconference/online as required, supports organizational initiatives to promote and maintain a strong positive workplace culture, serves on committees as assigned, and performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum education required is graduation from an accredited school of nursing. Preferred education is a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). Minimum experience required is two years supervisory experience working in a healthcare environment and demonstrated knowledge of Joint Commission standards, HIPAA regulations, and the Quadruple Aim. Preferred experience includes one year experience in an ambulatory clinic setting with Specialty services, one year nursing experience in the care of Cardiology, GI, Nephrology, Pulmonology, Podiatry, or Neurology patients in an ambulatory clinic and/or hospital setting, able to recognize cardiac rhythms and/or cardiac diagnostic testing experience, ability to start and maintain intravenous (IV) infusions, knowledge leading teams with patient care coordination, clinical workflow development, and nursing triage, and experience with Epic. Required certifications/licensure include unrestricted Registered Nurse License in the State of Texas and Basic Life Support (BLS) obtained through approved American Heart Association or Red Cross.
