Your Mission Lead high‑quality, developmentally appropriate programming that supports the academic, social‑emotional, and overall well‑being of children and youth. Ensure programs are safe, engaging, compliant, and responsive to the needs of students and families. Foster positive relationships, community connection, and opportunities for growth. What You’ll Impact Provide structured learning and enrichment experiences that support youth development across social, emotional, academic, and behavioral domains. Create a nurturing, inclusive environment where children feel safe, supported, and motivated to grow. Identify individual needs and connect families to appropriate supports. Key Responsibilities Plan, implement, and evaluate developmentally appropriate classroom activities that meet the intellectual, physical, social, emotional, language, and health needs of youth. Identify the social and recreational needs of students in the community and recommend appropriate initiatives and actions. Provide support to youth in developmental, social, and psychological aspects; complete assessments (SAYO and Spence) and plan activities or make referrals to the Behavioral Health Unit as needed. Partner with parents regarding students’ special needs, progress, strengths, and areas where additional support may be needed. Train, supervise, evaluate and support interns, tutors, and volunteers; meet with them regularly to provide guidance. Enter all client efforts and case notes into internal and external databases. Comply with all DCFS licensing standards for classrooms. Obtain, analyze, and evaluate data regularly to meet funding requirements and provide data as needed. Provide workshops and enrichment activities; invite outside specialists to enhance youth enrichment and community involvement. Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant learning space; recommend and purchase program supplies and activities. Prepare reports and perform required record‑keeping functions; assist with report writing as needed. Engage in professional development, including the supervisory process and other educational opportunities. Note: This job description outlines primary responsibilities but is not exhaustive. Duties may evolve in response to organizational needs, and flexibility will be required. What You Bring At least two years of college in Education, Social Work, Psychology or a related field. At least one year of practical experience in youth work, social service, or working with children/youth in a classroom setting. Skills and Knowledge Fluency in spoken and written English; bilingual in English and Chinese preferred. Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and data entry into internal systems. Excellent communication skills with youth and parents. Bonus Points For Experience working with children or youth in a school, nonprofit, or community setting. Experience supervising or supporting staff, interns, or volunteers. Familiarity with social‑emotional learning or trauma‑informed approaches. Experience working with diverse families and communities. Bilingual or bicultural experience. Physical Demands Mainly work in a classroom involving prolonged periods of sitting, walking, and standing. Environment and Scheduling CASL standard business hours: Monday through Friday (9:00 am – 5:00 pm), with flexibility for additional hours as needed. Work during program hours (10:00 am – 6:00 pm or 10:30 am – 6:30 pm, depending on age group). Must be flexible and available for alternate hours, including CPS closures. Compensation & Benefits This position offers a salary range of $38,000–$48,000 annually, reflective of experience and qualifications.
