MachinistFLSA: Non-ExemptDepartment: BackshopReports To: Lead MachinistDOT/ NON-DOT: DOTPosition SummaryPerform a basic to advanced level skilled work to accomplish sheet metal repairs and replacements of structural parts. Fabricate replacement covering, panels, or fairings by using the removed parts as samples. Reads and complies with instructions and safety information as necessary for proper and safe completion of assigned work.Job Duties and Responsibilities1. Review samples, drawings or instructions to understand specifications of output2. Take measurements and mark material for cutting or shaping3. Plan the sequence of necessary actions for the completion of a job4. Select appropriate machines (e.g. lathes) and position or load material for a job5. Monitor machine while working to adjust the feed, maintain temperature and identify issues6. Determine and program size of batches and speed of machine7. Monitor output to ensure consistency with specifications and discard defects8. Perform routine machine maintenance and repair minor damages9. Reads instructions and safety information as necessary for proper and safe completion of assigned work.10.
