Social Worker

Location: Sacaton Elementary School District No. 18 Position Summary The School Social Worker will provide services to students and families that strengthen home/school/community relationships and alleviate barriers to learning. To support the mission of the district goals, procedures, and policies in the best interest of the student by professionally carrying out assigned duties and participating in the improvement and refinement of related areas. To coordinate program resources to promote the development of each student. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Required Qualifications Must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986. Valid Level 1 IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card (Educator) Standard Guidance Counselor Certificate. Social Worker Certificate preferred Bachelor’s degree (BA) from a four‑year college or university Master’s degree (MSW) preferred One year of successful social work experience or field instruction in a school system, or six semester hours of acceptable coursework Knowledge of school, district, and community resources. Key Responsibilities, Skills & Knowledge Adheres to the District vision, mission, core values and goals in collaboration with staff. Demonstrates the ability and desire to provide outstanding customer service. Maintains confidentiality and sensitivity regarding information. Serves as a site‑based liaison, facilitating referrals to community agencies. Conducts school‑wide needs assessment to identify programming, groups, and individuals in need of additional support. Provides direct intervention such as individual, group counseling, and classroom lessons based on data collection. Uses data to guide service delivery and to evaluate practice regularly to improve and expand services. Assists in implementing site level educational programs including Social‑Emotional Learning and professional development for staff. Identifies cultural, ethnic, financial, physical, and emotional challenges negatively affecting students’ success and provides support to mitigate barriers. Serves as an active member of school/district assigned subcommittees and crisis response team. Participates in department planning and training regarding school related issues. Implements evidence‑informed prevention programs and practices that teach positive behaviours, promote social‑emotional development, and ensure learning‑conducive climates. Collaborates with counseling staff to plan and conduct mental‑health related school activities (e.g., suicide prevention, self‑harm, substance abuse). Consults with school personnel regarding problems affecting academic progress, behaviour, and well‑being, providing appropriate intervention and follow‑up. Provides direct services to students addressing mental health concerns, conflict resolution, anger management, and coping skills. Facilitates interventions to students and families during crisis. Makes home visits as necessary. Attends and participates in meetings beyond the regular staff schedule. Engages in professional development to enhance knowledge and pedagogical skill. Attends required program training and conducts required activities, including implementation of social‑emotional learning strategies. Follows guidance from professional associations (SASW or ASCA) for school social worker responsibilities. Assists colleagues as needed. Meets any additional specific job requirements as indicated by the school. Can work effectively under time constraints. Can work a flexible schedule, including weekend work. Complies with District attendance standards per guidelines. Highly organized; can multitask. Detail‑oriented and self‑motivated. Exhibits excellent communication skills. Maintains excellent memory and the ability to function under stress. Demonstrates high regard for confidential and sensitive information. Shows flexibility, common sense, and good judgement. Physical Requirements Physical demands include lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and fine finger dexterity. Working Environment Noise level is usually moderate.
